PFL Weekly RIN Recap - Progressive Fuels Limited
PFL Weekly RIN Recap Desk: 239-390-2885 Dec 11, 2014 to Dec 17, 2014 The November EMTS data was released late Tuesday revealing inline estimates for the month. The production numbers reported across all D-codes were lower, although not all that much than the previous month as well as year over year. Many feel that the current break-even or negative economics for both the ethanol and biodiesel cash markets will continue with the slide in crude and RBOB. With blending economics being so poor and along with the continued uncertainty of when the EPA will actually announce in 2015, RIN values continue their push upward potentially approaching all time highs for the year. The spread between the 2014-2015 D4 rins have shown the largest increase over the last week. Just a month ago it was averaging 2-3cents but has now widened to 4.5-5.5cents. The tax extenders packing including the biodiesel tax credit looks to be headed for the President's signature which would make it retroactive again for the 2014 year. This would help a number of biodiesel producers for the year who were banking on this credit, although we seem to be headed for the same position going into 2015.
