Delroy Cameron 11 Naglee Ave, Apt 2 San Francisco, CA 94112 +1 (937) 768–1361 (cell) delroy.cameron@gmail.com http://delroycameron.com Research Interests My research has a dual focus on: 1) modeling, extracting, and leveraging high quality information from unstructured text and 2) applying graph algorithms to information extracted from structured text, both to facilitate knowledge discovery. Education Wright State University Ph.D. in Computer Science – Advisor: Prof. Amit P. Sheth – Dissertation Title: A Context-Driven Subgraph Model for Literature-Based Discovery . Dayton, OH Jan. 2008 – Dec. 2014 University of Georgia Master of Science in Computer Science Athens, GA Aug. 2005 – Dec. 2007 Savannah State University Bachelor of Science in Computer Science Technology Savannah, GA Aug. 2001 – May 2005 Projects 1. Obvio: Semantic Web in Literature-Based Discovery (2010.6 - 2014.12) I was the lead PhD student on the Obvio project, whose goal is to leverage assertions from biomedical literature together with statements from structured background knowledge to facilitate knowledge discovery. These representations enable reasoning and application of graph algorithms such as depth first search and hierarchical agglomerative clustering, to automatically create subgraphs along multiple thematic dimensions. Obvio facilitated the recovery of 8 out of 9 existing scientific discoveries using public literature. Project Page: http://wiki.knoesis.org/index.php/Obvio Video Demo: http://bit.ly/obviodemo 2. PREDOSE: PREscription Drug abuse Online-Surveillance and Epidemiology (2011.7 - 2014.12) I was also the lead PhD student on the PREDOSE project, which is designed to model, extract and analyze semantic information on prescription drug abuse from web forum discussions. This research utilizes rule-based and pattern-based techniques to automatically extract diverse data elements from unstructured text, such as entities, triples, sentiment expressions, frequency and dosage. The project has contributed new knowledge on prescription drug abuse based on our analysis of informal web forum posts. Project Page: http://wiki.knoesis.org/index.php/PREDOSE Video Demo: http://bit.ly/predemo & http://bit.ly/kasdemo 3. Scooner: Semantic Browser (2009.1 - 2010.6) I was previously a Web Developer and then lead PhD student (2010.1 - 2010.6) on the Scooner project, which is a discovery support system for user-driven text exploration. Scooner performs various tasks, including entity annotation, semantic trailblazing, fact aggregation and collaborative information sharing. Project Page: http://wiki.knoesis.org/index.php/Scooner Video Demo(s): http://bit.ly/scodemo 4. SEMEF: SEMantic Expert Finder (2006.6 - 2007.12) I also developed SEMEF, which is a semantic web application that leverages structured background knowledge, bibliographic citations and their associated keywords, to find experts, create expertise profiles and expand collaboration networks. SEMEF was used to suggest unknown experts for membership on program committees. Research Internships 1.
