fellowship in our Fellowship Hall (through the glass
doors in the gathering area). Then come learn with us
during our Christian Education time for all ages beginning at 10:30 am.

‘Communion Participation & Visitor Registration’ card,
located in the pew pockets, so that we may get to know
you better. You may drop it in the offering basket or
hand it to an usher. Then feel free to stop in at our

our many ministries.

Celebration of Holy Communion: In the Lord's Supper, we truly receive the body and
blood of the risen Christ. Baptized Christians who confess this real presence of Christ
Jesus in this Holy meal are invited to come forward with us to receive Holy Communion. Those not prepared for communion and persons who have a different understanding of the Lord’s Supper are welcome to come forward for a blessing. Please indicate
this to the servers by bringing your service bulletin to the altar rail with you.
 When an usher directs you, come to the front using the center aisle
 Please kneel at the rail; receive the bread, then the wine.
 Grape juice & gluten free wafers are available upon request
 Children who do not yet commune receive a blessing
 If you are unable to come forward but wish to receive communion, let an usher
know and communion will be brought to you

Sunday School/Christian Education
Sunday School for all ages begins at 10:30 am. Younger children begin in the
choir room and then proceed to designated classrooms. Catechism class for
middle school youth meets in designated classroom, high school youth meet in
the Youth Room and Adult Ed meets in the Media Room.

Missions
January Mission of the Month: Heifer Project
Please prayerfully consider a gift to Heifer International, our Mission of the Month.
When we donate to this organization our gift multiplies and goes forth to create sustaining businesses for those with little hope. People receive an animal, learn how to
care for it and how to benefit from what the animal produces - food for their family
and food or products to sell for income for their family. These families then give an
offspring of their animal to another family and teach them to do the same. What we
do for the least of our brothers and sisters in the world we do unto Christ. For more
information pick up a flyer from the narthex or visit them online at heifer.org.
Use your weekly offering envelopes or a white pew envelope to contribute and note
“Mission of the Month” on your check and/or envelope.
News
Saturday Hospitality Time
This Saturday, January 17, Calvary’s board of deacons will host a brief social time
after the 5:00 worship service. Please join us for some light appetizers, lemonade,
and fellowship!
Monthly Monday Morning Movies
The women’s ministry book group is beginning a Monday morning movie time and
welcomes all interested Calvary members and friends to join us to watch a movie the
third Monday morning of each month. We’ll begin with “Babette’s Feast” at 9 am this
Monday, January 19 in the media room.
Summary of the movie:
The story is a simple one: In a village on the remote Jutland peninsula in late
nineteenth-century Denmark, two maiden sisters, Martine and Philippa, preside over a small Lutheran pious sect that their father had founded as a
young man. Although the minister has long been dead, a dwindling number
of disciples continue to meet at his house to read and interpret the Word.
Martine and Philippa now want to celebrate what would have been their long
-deceased father's hundredth birthday at a simple supper for his remaining
disciples. However, their servant, Babette Hersant, a refugee from the
French Civil War, asks to prepare a real French dinner for the celebration,
and to pay for it herself from the ten thousand francs she has recently won in
a lottery. The sisters reluctantly agree, and Babette prepares a feast that
brings about a transformation in the chef and feasters alike.

and light refreshments ready.

Flower Chart
There is a new Flower Chart for 2015 and plenty of opportunities to purchase flowers
for our weekend altar. Please print your name clearly and note if it is in memory of
someone or in celebration of something.

Youth & Family Ministry
Bridge
Youth in grades 3-5 meet this Sunday, January 18, from 11:30 am - 1 pm for our
monthly Bridge gathering.
Youth Sunday
February 1 is the date of our next youth-led worship service. We give thanks for our
youth who faithfully serve and look forward to their leadership in this worship service.

As summer planning has started, please make plans to attend Calvary’s VBS!
Age 3 (potty trained) through 5th grade. Older youth are welcome to volunteer
as helpers for the week.
