Welcome to Worship! - Calvary Lutheran Church
Our mission at Calvary is to boldly proclaim the life-changing love of
Jesus Christ through joyful worship, faithful service, & continuous learning.
Second Sunday in Lent
February 28 & March 1, 2015
Sat. - 5 pm; Sun. - 9 am
Welcome to Worship!
We welcome you in Christ’s name and thank you for
sharing this worship moment with us. May this time of
praise both honor God and inspire you.
We invite you to join us following worship for a time of
fellowship in our Fellowship Hall (through the glass
doors in the gathering area). Then come learn with us
during our Christian Education time for all ages beginning at 10:30 am.
If you are looking for a church home, come and explore
all that Calvary has to offer. Please fill out a blue
‘Communion Participation & Visitor Registration’ card,
located in the pew pockets, so that we may get to know
you better. You may drop it in the offering basket or
hand it to an usher. Then feel free to stop in at our
“Welcome Desk” and pick up more information about
our many ministries.
If you have any questions, please speak with the pastor or
any of our staff or volunteers wearing a grey nametag.
Large print bulletins are available from any usher.
Please silence cell phones during worship.

PREPARATORY PRAYER
‎Almighty and everlasting God, you hate nothing you have made and forgive the sins
of all who are penitent: Create and make in us new and contrite hearts, that we, worthily lamenting our sins and acknowledging our wretchedness, may obtain of you, the
God of all mercy, perfect remission and forgiveness; through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

blood of the risen Christ. Baptized Christians who confess this real presence of Christ
Jesus in this Holy meal are invited to come forward with us to receive Holy Communion. Those not prepared for communion and persons who have a different understanding of the Lord’s Supper are welcome to come forward for a blessing. Please indicate
this to the servers by bringing your service bulletin to the altar rail with you.
 When an usher directs you, come to the front using the center aisle
 Please kneel at the rail; receive the bread, then the wine.
 Grape juice & gluten free wafers are available upon request
 Children who do not yet commune receive a blessing
 If you are unable to come forward but wish to receive communion, let an usher
know and communion will be brought to you

Missions
February Mission of the Month: Lutheran Bible Translators
February is a short month and we are short on giving for Lutheran Bible Translators,
$470 at last count. LBT's missionaries are carrying out God's Great Commission,
getting His Word into the hands, hearts, and minds to fill the spirits of those who otherwise might never know of Jesus and the Good News. The people they are serving
often don't have a written language. Through LBT they are getting God's Holy Word AND their language is being developed into a written language which will function to
provide education and written communication for conveying everything we take for
granted. If it is in your heart, please write LBT on your giving envelope in support of
those giving their lives daily to carrying out the Great Commission!
Mission of the Month: January (Heifer Project)
Thank you Calvary Congregation! Our great giving of goats and geese, water buffalo,
bees and bunnies, and heifers has nearly reached $2000.00. What wonderful love of
God's people we are able to show helping communities for generations to come!
News
Saturday Worship Help Needed
We are in need of additional people to advance the slides at Saturday evening worship services. Training is provided. No special computer or other skills needed.
Please see Lydia Trudell or Kim Steiner if interested.
Attention Calvary Musicians!
Do you sing, or play an instrument, or maybe enjoy handling heavy metal objects
under professional supervision? Do you feel the Spirit moving you to lift up your
praise to God’s glory through music? There’s a place for you in Calvary’s Ministry of
Music!
This Sunday, March 1, at 11:15AM following Christian Education Hour. Gene Traas,
your Director of Music, will hold a meeting for those interested in getting involved with
the Ministry of Music. Choir people, instrumentalists (contemporary, band, orchestral
or otherwise – no accordions, please, they frighten Gene), those interested in handbells or choirchimes, come, listen, and see! If you have the time, we have the place
for you. Stop in Sunday – March 1, 11:15AM, Sanctuary (This is a change from
previous notices.).
Correction
Last week the new Council members were listed in the bulletin. Bob Smith’s name
was inadvertently left off the list. We apologize for this oversight. We welcome Bob
to the Council as he takes on the roles of Vice President and liaison to the Property
Committee and the Board of Deacons.

Mid-Week Lenten Supper & Worship
On Wednesday our mid-week Lenten suppers and worship services continue. Our
worship features the drama “Invited to the Banquet of the King”. As in any series, you
won’t want to miss any “episodes” in this continuous story.
This week we encounter “The Poet” with the theme of Hymns of Worship. Supper
begins at 6 pm and will be served by our Deacons. Worship begins at 7 pm.
NOTE: We still have two supper hosting opportunities for a small group, committee
or groups of families. Open dates are March 11 & 25. If you or your groups are interested in serving a Lenten supper, please contact the church office.
