This came as he received at sakhir Palace Royal Windsor Horse show director Brigadier simon Brooks. His Majesty said the kingdom has been taking part in the Royal Windsor Horse show and achieving advanced positions and results. Bahrain should take advantage of the festival, attended by officials from all over the world, to promote its achievements in various fields, he said. The King pointed out that such events confirm the dis- tinguished status of the sport, stressing that Bahrain has the best genuine Arabian horse studs which are registered in the World Arabian Horse Organisation. He said Bahrain, represented by the Bahrain Royal Equestrian and Endurance Federation, allocates special importance to the Royal Windsor Horse show, and is keen to ensure its success through effective participation in its various competitions. n His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa received the Al Asfoor family, led by Shaikh Abdul Hussain Al Asfoor, who thanked him for extending condolences on the death of Shaikh Ahmed bin Khalaf Al Asfoor. n King thanked His Majesty King Hamad yesterday received a cable of thanks from Gulf Arab states Educational Research centre director Dr Marzouq Yousef Al Ghunaim following a symposium on the variables affecting the academic achievements of students in grades seven to nine in Bahrain. Scheme to ensure schoolchildren’s safety POlicE in Muharraq are launching a scheme to ensure the safety of schoolchildren. The Muharraq police station aims to protect children who walk to school by determining suitable routes for them and deploying policemen there. This was revealed as interior Minister lt Gen shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa yesterday visited the Muharraq Governorate police directorate. He was received by Public security chief Major General Tariq Al Hassan and the General Director of Muharraq Governorate Police. The event is being held under the theme “Responding to the challenges of the 21st century: World peace; justice; stability and security.” n The Interior Minister yesterday received MP Adel Al Asoomi and discussed ways of reinforcing Bahrain’s security and stability. n Education Minister Dr Majid Al Nuaimi yesterday visited Hunainiya Secondary Boys School in the Southern Governorate and was reassured on work progress. The BD5 million state-of-the-art school accommodates 1,300 students and offers modern educational facilities. The design adopts energy-saving methods such as thermal insulation for roofs and walls and heat insulating glass, and takes into account facilities for students with special needs.
