The Ironton Bar Stool
Races will be held Saturday,
Feb. 7 at Morningside Park
beginning at noon with nearly
30 teams competing. Last year
18 teams entered the race.
Admission is $1 with admission proceeds donated to the
Sno-Serpents
Snowmobile
Club. Gates will open at 11 a.m.
The racers meeting and barstool
inspection is at 11 a.m. at the
Town Tavern in Ironton. If
needed, races will be held on
Sunday, Feb. 8.
Bar stools are mounted on
skis and drag race down a small
hill. Two two-person teams race
down the hill. The winner
advances.
Local media have been
invited to cover the event and
trophies will be awarded for
best costume/design, best wipeout, best design as well as first,
second and third places.
New this year is the
Michelob Golden Draft Light
Beer Garden and Jimmy’s
Pizza is selling pizza by the
slice. The Town Tavern Bar
Stool Race Raffle Tickets are
$1 donation. The drawing will
be held Saturday, Feb. 7 at 6
p.m. at the Town Tavern. Need
not be present to win. First prize
is $500 cash, second prize is
$50 Town Tavern gift certificate and third prize is a $25 gift
certificate. Proceeds from the
raffle will benefit the Ironton
Fire Department.
