INTRODUCTION

With immense pleasure we announce that the University Department of
Geography, Magadh University, Bodhgaya in collaboration with the Deccan
Geographical Society, Pune, India is going to organize an International
Geography Conference on Tourism, Environment & Development on
February 26-28, 2015.
Tourism has become an essential aspect of the global concern. It acts as an
important agent for regional development by providing employment,
generating foreign exchange and promoting of infra structural development.
India possesses immense potentials but the sector is lagging behind and
accounts for about only 0.5 per cent of the global tourism. To make tourism
more tenable and a better way to promote a balanced regional development
with a sustainable environment is the main objective of this international
conference.
Tourism, environment and development together may be considered in the
positive tune for human development. So this is a high time for us to discuss
the related issues and make useful suggestions through deliberations in this
international conference.
The conference would provide an ideal platform for the scholars from
different parts of India and abroad to present and exchange their research
findings and ideas. The organizers wish to extend cordial invitation to all
concerned scholars to participate in this event. The sub-themes of technical

Registration fee is non-refundable. It will cover the cost of kit bag, technical
documents, tea, coffee and working lunch. Outstation accompanying family
members will be charged Rs. 1500/- per person and they will not be
provided kit bag and technical documents. Retired geographers will have to
pay Rs. 1000/- only.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation for the delegates will be provided in guest
houses, hostels and hotels. Delegates, who would like to stay in
hotels at Bodhgaya, should have to make additional charge as per

An abstract of about 300 words should reach to the organizer latest by 15
January, 2015 accompanying with the prescribed registration fee. While the
full paper should reach latest by 30th January, 2015. Both the abstract and full
paper should be typed on A4 size with double space in MS Word along with
title of paper, author's name, affiliation, contact address with email/mobile/phone no. and these must be sent with soft copy. Abstract
without registration fee will not be printed in the souvenir.
Online booking in the hotel is in the interest of the delegates.

HOW TO REACH BODHGAYA
Gaya is well connected with the other parts of India through roads,
railways and air. Gaya has an International airport and another
airport at Patna is also near with only 120 Kms. far away from here.

CLIMATE
The region lies in the Monsoon type of climate. The month of February is the
ideal and very pleasant with mild cold climate which requires light woollen
garments.
TOURIST SPOTS
Besides main glorious temple of Lord Buddha and Mahabodhi tree, there
are more than two dozen foreign monasteries belonging to Buddhism.
Bodhgaya as a unique place of cultural complexes which attracts tourists in
large number from all parts of the world. A few other important sacred
centres and tourist spots all around Gaya and Bodhgaya such as Rajgir's hot
spring, ruins of the ancient University of Nalanda, Jal Mandir of Pawpuri,
Sun Temple of Deo etc. are worth to visit.
MAGADH UNIVERSITY, BODHGAYA is one of the largest universities of Bihar.
It is functioning as an important academic centre of south Bihar from early
sixties. It consists 44 Constituent Colleges and more than 250 affiliated
colleges with over 4.5 lakh students spread over in seven districts of the
State.
UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENT OF GEOGRAPHY
The Post Graduate Department of Geography comes under Science faculty.
The department is academically conscious and vibrant since its beginning
and has teachers of national and international repute. Advance teaching
and researches are carried out in important and modern branches of
Geography. M.A./M.Sc. in Geography and Ph.D. courses are offered in the
department. About 300 research scholars have been awarded with Ph.D.
Degree.
POST CONFERENCE TOUR
A tour to places of historical importance such as Rajgir, Nalanda, and
Pawapuri will be arranged for delegates on 01.03.2015. For such tour an
additional amount of Rs. 800/- only per person will be charged. Interested
delegates will have to give their consent in advance.

The Deccan Geographical Society, India is well reputed society of India for
the development & promotion of the subject of Geography. Presently, “The
Deccan Geographer” and “Bhugolshastra Sanshodhak” research journals
are published regularly. Every year, Bhugol Bhushan Award, Geography
Teacher Award and Dr. B. Hemamalini Young Geographer Award are
distributed during DGSI annual conference.
