Litany of Saints
[ALL BOW]
I believe in one God,
the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
and by the Holy Spirit
was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
For our sake he was crucified
under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
[ALL STAND UPRIGHT]
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son
is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy,
catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism
for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

ELCOME! If you are a visitor to the Cathedral,
we want you to know how welcome you are –
whether you have come from another part of the
country, from across the world, or simply from another
parish here in the Archdiocese. Thanks, in part, to the
generosity of visitors like you, we are able to celebrate the
Church’s liturgy here in a fitting and beautiful way. We are
also able to offer a wide range of services to needy people
living in the central district of our city.
CATHEDRAL BOOKSTORE The DVD of Midnight
Mass 2014 is now in stock for a limited time! Stop by
today to pick up a copy (just $10). Also: plenty of
great Catholic reading, medals, rosaries, and so much
more!
FLOWERS AT THE ALTAR are the gift of the Office of
the Vicar for Clergy of the Archdiocese of Seattle,
honoring the life and witness of Dr. Martin Luther
King, Jr. If you would like to offer flowers to
remember a loved one, mark a special anniversary, or
give thanks for an answered prayer, please contact
Jane Mueller at 206-622-3559 or jmueller@stjamescathedral.org to schedule. Flowers are especially
needed during the next few weeks until the season
of Lent begins: January 25, February 1, 8, and 15
are currently available.
JOIN IN THE SANTO NIÑO PROCESSION AT THE NOON
MASS TODAY Children are invited to accompany the
Santo Niño statue in the entrance procession. Meet in
the West Vestibule at 11:50am. Parents, please
accompany very young children.
PLACE OF LIGHT, PLACE OF WELCOME CAMPAIGN
You may have read in the recent issue of In Your Midst
about a new capital campaign to provide exterior
lighting which will make our beloved Cathedral as
beautiful and safe by night as by day. This $1 million
campaign will also greatly improve accessibility to the
Cathedral and provide improved signage around the
Cathedral campus for visitors and regulars alike. If you
would like to learn more about Father Ryan’s vision
for this campaign, meet the artist and architect, ask
questions, and consider making a donation, you are
invited to an information session, Thursday, January
22, at 6:30pm in the Holy Names Room, Pastoral
Outreach Center. An RSVP is required. Literature
about the campaign is also available in the Cathedral
Bookstore and in the kiosk in the Cathedral’s west
vestibule. Information, Maria Laughlin, Director of
Development, 206-382-4284 or e-mail
mlaughlin@stjames-cathedral.org.
PARISH REMEMBRANCE Throughout the year, because we
are the Cathedral Church, we remember in prayer at Mass
and Vespers each of the parishes and missions of the
Archdiocese of Seattle on a Sunday near their feast day. This
week we remember in prayer the parishes of Holy
Redeemer in Vancouver and Sacred Heart in LaConner and
Winlock.

A guide to Sunday parking at the Cathedral
We know that parking in this area is at a premium and we do our best to make it available to you.
In consideration of our neighbors, please note these important Do’s and Don’ts!
PLEASE DO park:
 In the O’Dea High School lot.
 In the Cabrini Tower Garage on Marion Street across from O’Dea High School for the Saturday 5:30
pm Mass and all Sunday Masses. The Cathedral pays for parking (and for official traffic officers from the
Seattle Police Department) during these times, and you are encouraged to take advantage of it.
Did you know that there is also parking underground at Cabrini Garage? Dozens of spots sit
empty every weekend. Try it if you arrive late.
 In the P-1 parking lot under the Chancery building at 9th and Marion.
 In the Cherry and Terry Parking lot, only in spaces 1-22.
Please DO NOT park:
 In any parking spot blocked with an orange cone.
 In the Cherry and Terry Parking lot, spaces 23-40 (the south side of the L shaped lot). These are
clearly marked with signs; we do appreciate your not parking there.
 In the lot adjacent to the Envoy Apartments on 9th Avenue, directly across from the Cathedral.
 In the Blood Bank parking lot at the corner of Terry and Columbia.
 In the Frye Museum parking lots on Terry Avenue.
 In the parking places at the Pastoral Outreach Center.
 In the spaces on Terry Avenue reserved for loading and unloading of the parish vans.
St. James Cathedral
Sandwich Ministry
St. Martin de Porres is a shelter of the
Archdiocesan Housing Authority. Each day,
St. Martin’s Shelter provides a bed, a meal,
and many other services for 212 men over the
age of 50. But they have a problem... their
kitchen is not large enough to prepare food
for such a big group.
In response to this problem, churches and
groups in Seattle have provided sandwiches
for the men on specific days each month. For years, St. James volunteers have
supplied sandwiches on the second, fourth, and fifth Mondays of the month. We
currently have a need for fourth Monday volunteers.
Are you interested in getting involved? It’s easy to do and fun!
 Make sandwiches in the comfort of your own home. Cookies and hard-boiled
eggs are welcome, too!
 Drop-off sandwiches at Coffee Hour on the preceding Sunday or at the Parish
Office on Monday, 9am-3pm.
 You can choose to participate once a month, as many of our volunteers do, or
even twice a month if you are able.
 This is a great way for busy individuals and families to get involved in
outreach, and it’s a simple way to make a big difference!
To learn how you can join this important ministry, please contact
Tara Snyder at sandwich.volunteers@gmail.com.
For more information, call Tom Frasene at 206-382-4235.
