Emmanuel Odoemene Administrator: Jane O’Rourke Hall bookings: Margaret - 0118 987 5588 or hallbookingsolop@gmail.com Your Church Office is open this week Tuesday - Friday, 9am-2pm 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time p. 59 1st February 2015 Thought for the week In our Second Reading, St. Paul was urging his listeners to prepare themselves as worthily as they could because the Lord’s coming would be sooner than we know. Yes family life does have stress at times, but thanks be to God for mothers and fathers, sons and daughters; the family is the ‘domestic Church’ and the first and foremost place to live out our Christian calling. The people who listened to Jesus’ teaching in today’s Gospel were used to hearing scribes and teachers in the synagogue. But with Jesus they witnessed something new. We don’t know what Jesus was teaching that day, or what kind of language He used, but what struck the people listening was that He taught with authority. He had drawn them in, but they couldn't quite put their finger on it. “What does it all mean?” they asked each other. He had made them think, and they recognised that He was offering something different. Often when you meet a person of wisdom, of deep faith and conviction, you can tell straight away by just being in their presence. We hear today how Jesus had that impact on all present. What impact does His teaching have on you? Psalm Response: O that today you would listen to his voice! Harden not your hearts READING Sunday Mass Times: 4 Year B It is good to have Fr.
