Keeping parents and students informed
Term 3 Letter 4
Friday 30 January 2015
Attendance Reward
Well done to all the students in Year 7, 8 and 9 who achieved 100% attendance during Term 1
and Term 2. Their reward is a lunchtime screening of Frozen (sing-a-long version) on Friday 13
February. Students may bring a packed lunch.
Art Trip
On Wednesday this week, thirty eight Year 9 art students embarked on a trip to the
National Portrait Gallery.
Students were able to see works
of art that they have been studying
in class as part of their ‘Portraiture’
project. For example, Marc Quinn’s
self-portrait ‘Self’ which features the
artist’s own blood, along with more
traditional portraiture in the Tudor
galleries.
The students will now use what they
have seen and learnt to inform the
production of their own self-portrait.
A big thank you to the members of
staff that made the trip possible.
KS3 Stem Club
This week the ‘Stemmies’ learnt about
the principles of flight and Mr Bernoulli’s
theory on pressure differentials! The
Stemmies are gearing up to apply
this knowledge to their first design of
a powered flying machine under the
watchful eye of Mr Bell.
The Stemmies have taken off in their
pursuit of the perfect design and the sky
is the limit when it comes to their ideas.
In time we will see if their designs arrive
on time with a successful first flight.
Year 11 Art exam
All year 11 Art students received their
EDEXCEL Art & Design exam paper
nearly three weeks ago. The topic

Please ensure your son/daughter
completes all the sketchbook tasks set
every week for homework as this is
part of the examination. There will also
be an examination preparation day/
controlled assessment completion day
on WEDNESDAY 18 FEBRUARY during
half term.
