Drumming Year 4 With the start of the new term, our Year Four pupils have started their percussion sessions with Sandra and Pauline. Our children are learning how to play djembe drums. The djembe (pronounced JEM-bay) is one of the most versatile and widespread percussion instruments on the planet. Its huge popularity is down to the fact that it can create an unusually wide range of pitches, namely the bass (low), tone (medium) and slap (high). These sounds are created by striking different areas of the djembe skin with the hands. Class Assemblies Parents and carers, take note of the next two class assembly dates: Venus Class: Friday, 29th January 2016 Mercury Class; Friday, 5th February 2016 For a prompt start please be in school by 9:05 a.m. Thank you!
