Objective:
The status of Indian English Literature and Teaching-Learning process
of English in India has registered obtrusive changes and aspects.
English has emerged as the lingua franca of contemporary globalized
corporate world. In recent years fluency in English has become an
essential demand, which has augmented the interest of students of
various disciplines towards English. The education policies of
government and institutes engaged in higher education, have
displayed a vibrant shift in terms of language thereby focusing on
improving the standard of English in India. At the same time we must
acknowledge that our English language-teachers have a wide range
of teaching facilities available. It has in fact changed the languageteaching scenario. Comparing to the pre-nineties of the past century
we also find that inclination of society towards English Literature has
up surged. India now has more writers who can write in English
comfortably. Thus, India owns a rich collection of vivid works in
English. Contemporary writings in English reflect the ripples of social,
political, economic and cultural changes.
Such a paradigm shift in Indian English Literature and Language
teaching deserves critical attention. We are witnessing a transition
era, which in future shall be referred from a variety of perspectives.
Thus, it is necessary for the scholars of literature and language to
analyse the state of English Literature and English language-teaching
scenario. AICON '15 solicits critical analysis/ observations of
scholars, teachers and professionals on Indian English Literature, ELT
and Professional Communication. AICON-15 shall be an academic
platform for the scholars of Literature, Language and Professional
Communication to interact and share their valuable discourses.
