A weekly psychotherapy group for gay or bisexual men who are struggling with sexual
compulsivity issues. Process disorders and addictions do not respond to the same clinical
interventions as do substance disorders and addictions. Participation in a psychotherapy
group with others who are seeking recovery from sexual compulsivity is strongly encouraged
as an ancillary, if not primary, treatment modality among a complement of services which
includes individual psychotherapy and attendance at 12-step groups. Pre-registration

Couples Therapy: Applications of the Gottman Method

The highly acclaimed Gottman Method of Relationship Therapy has developed a strong
following among marital therapists. This seminar provides a review of the Gottmans’ Sound
Relationship House Theory, seven principles that make relationships work. Participants will
learn how to apply the model to their clinical practice, with case materials demonstrating
its use with a variety of same-sex couples. Participants receipt the 550-page Clinician’s
Workshop Manual and a certificate of completion from the Gottman Institute. This two-day
workshop fulfills the level 1 requirement toward Gottman certification. For more information

Experiencing the loss of a loved one to suicide is an unwanted traumatic event.
Those who have not been touched by this event—even if well-intentioned—may not
fully appreciate and comprehend the many feelings that survivors experience in the
wake of a suicide. For LGBT individuals, the grief and loss process can be particularly
difficult because our status is not always recognized or understood. This forum is
an open support group for LGBT individuals who are grieving the loss of a loved one
from suicide. In an affirming and supportive space, participants gather to discuss
the unique issues of pain, grief and stigma that accompany suicides. Pre-screening

State Ballet of Georgia: Don Quixote 2:00p $20 Pre-registration required
Nina Ananiashvili, star dancer with The Bolshoi Ballet and American Ballet Theater, returned
home to the Republic of Georgia to create a world-class ballet company. Ananiashvili leads
the company on its first international tour. She will dance with Andrei Uvarov. Don Quixote is
considered the most joyous and festive of classical ballet, brimming with virtuoso dancing.
The March 9 performance is part of the LaSalle Bank Family Matinee Series and will feature

In this charming documentary, Ruth Ellis, a 100-year-old African American lesbian, recounts
her life. As a lesbian academic interviewed in the documentary puts it, “Ruth is a gift to
us as she is able to tell what it was like to suffer ‘triple oppression, being a woman, being
black, and being a lesbian.’ Ellis tells about discovering her sexuality some 80 years ago,
and when discussing her romantic involvements (which included one relationship lasting

stand.” A businesswoman, Ellis lived openly as a lesbian and often played host for an
active social circle of gays and lesbians in Detroit at a time when mainstream America
scarcely acknowledged the existence of the community. The film is illustrated with vintage
photographs of Ellis, her family, lovers, and friends, and footage shot in the present day
shows her at dance class, having fun at her favorite bowling alley, and shooting pool with
friends. This is an engaging look at a special character, a woman who was always true to
