This year, through a series of lectures and workshops, we explore the intellectual and interpersonal side of anaesthetic practice through the theme of “The Human Face of Anaesthesia”. The meeting runs over one day, leaving Sunday to discover the beautiful beaches and mountains of the world renowned Freycinet National Park. There will be a choice of two workshops in the morning session. Dr Marion Andrew from Adelaide will conduct the popular Key 2 Me Process Communication Model seminar which provides an introduction to a tool that develops a deeper understanding of individual behaviour under stress. Participants will begin to learn and understand the needs and motivations of themselves and others, and how to stay open and resilient when change or difficulties present a challenge. Alternatively Dr Malcolm Anderson and Dr Sandy Zalstein will conduct their highly-regarded Cardiac Arrest Refresher Course (fulfilling ANZCA CPD requirements). A series of lectures will be given in the afternoon session by local Tasmanian specialists exploring various aspects of the human side of being an anaesthetist. photos: Dr Roger Wong
