THE PARISH OF ST. ALOYSIUS
Jersey City, NJ
PARISH MISSION STATEMENT
We, the people of St. Aloysius Parish, are united in one faith in Jesus Christ
and His Church. We are proud to be Catholic and express this faith in the
Roman Catholic tradition. As a local church, we encourage the people
already here to welcome those newly arriving to become a unified and
loving family of Christians. We provide for the continuing educational and
formational needs of our youth and adults. In this unity of faith, we desire
to evangelize, to inspire lay leadership and to nurture a sense of ownership
of mission and ministries that incorporate our multi-ethnic traditions.

Important Announcement ! ! !
Starting the weekend of February 21 & 22, the Lectors &
Eucharistic Ministers will be sitting in the first two pews at

their ministry time. Please keep these pews for them.
Many thanks for your cooperation.
Dear Friends,
Last week, we conducted the Sharing God’s
Blessings Annual Appeal in the Parish. If you
did not get the opportunity to make a pledge
last Sunday, pledge envelopes and brochures are found in the vestibule of the
church. We need everyone’s participation
and support to reach our parish goal of
$42,086. If we exceed our parish goal, we
will receive a rebate from the Archdiocese of
Newark. This rebate can be used to support
our many ministries in the parish as well as
for the school and for the proper maintenance of our buildings.
Please prayerfully consider your pledge. You may drop your
pledge envelopes in the Sunday collection basket or at the parish office. Your continued support and generosity to the Sharing God’s Blessings Annual Appeal are greatly appreciated.
Many thanks to those who organized and attended our Wine
Tasting last weekend. We thank you for your support.
We welcome Fr. Chris Alar, MIC to our parish this weekend.
Fr. Christ is the Director of the Association of Marian Helpers
and currently lives in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, home of the
Nation Shrine of Divine Mercy. Fr. Chris is here with us this
weekend for our Divine Mercy Parish Mission.
We also thank Janet and Marie, the Ocean of Mercy Prayer
Group and all who assisted them and attended our Divine
Mercy Parish Mission this weekend.
Finally, please include in your prayers all those who will attend
the Cornerstone Retreat for Women next Saturday. May it be a
spiritually enriching, relaxing and grace-filled retreat for all of
them.
God Bless,
Fr. Juancho

Archdiocese of Newark 2015 Lenten Regulations
1.
The days of both Fast and Abstinence during Lent are Ash
Wednesday and Good Friday. If possible, the fast on
Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil (on Holy
Saturday night) as the “paschal fast” to honor the suffering
and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to
share more fully and to celebrate more the Lord Jesus,
and to prepare ourselves to share more fully and to celebrate more readily His Resurrection. The other Fridays of
Lent are days of Abstinence.
On a day of Fast, only one (1) full meal is permitted, and
two (2) smaller meals, which if added together, would
not exceed the main meal in quantity.
Those between the ages of 18 and 59 are obliged to fast.
On a day of Abstinence, no meat may be eaten. Those
who have reached the age of 14 are obliged by the law of
abstinence.
2.
The obligation to observe the laws of Fast and Abstinence
“substantially”, or as a whole, is a serious obligation.

traditional abstinence from meat some other practice of
voluntary self-denial as penance.

Thank you for your continued support & generosity!!!
Stewardship Reflection
“Brothers and sisters, whether you eat or drink or whatever you do,
everything for the glory of God.”
Do a quick check of your priorities. Where does God rank in that
list? If He’s not first, you have some work to do. Putting God first in
everything helps develop the attitude of “I am grateful for the gifts
God gave me” instead of “I want more”. For most people gratitude
leads to generosity.
