teaching a series on being an intentional disciple of

Luke 5:1-11
New International Version
1 One day as Jesus was standing by the Lake of
Gennesaret, the people were crowding around him
and listening to the word of God. 2 He saw at the
water’s edge two boats, left there by the
fishermen, who were washing their nets. 3 He got
into one of the boats, the one belonging to Simon,
and asked him to put out a little from shore. Then he
sat down and taught the people from the boat.
4 When he had finished speaking, he said to Simon,
“Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a
catch.” 5 Simon answered, “Master, we’ve worked
hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But
because you say so, I will let down the nets.”
6 When they had done so, they caught such a large
number of fish that their nets began to break. 7 So
they signaled their partners in the other boat to
come and help them, and they came and filled both
boats so full that they began to sink. 8 When Simon
Peter saw this, he fell at Jesus’ knees and said, “Go
away from me, Lord; I am a sinful man!” 9 For he
and all his companions were astonished at the catch
of fish they had taken, 10 and so were James and
John, the sons of Zebedee, Simon’s partners. Then
Jesus said to Simon, “Don’t be afraid; from now
on you will fish for people.” 11 So they pulled their
boats up on shore, left everything and followed him.

is God’s sign that God still has
work for us to do, as well as
God’s continuing to exhibit
grace and mercy in our lives.
In response to God’s loving
kindness and tender mercies,

worship and uninhibited
praise. I invite you to share in our life-changing
engagement as practicing Christians, which is on the front
of this bulletin. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is our first
priority. In this, we strive to make Jesus’ words applicable
to our lives, while showing the face of Jesus to everyone
we meet. We also do this by continuing to fight for the
least cared for, while continuing to unapologetically
declare a war on educational disparities, hunger, mass
incarceration, homelessness, food deserts, etc. The local
church must lead the charge in helping change the lives of
all people, and you are welcomed to join us in this fight.
If you are a first time or repeat visitor, I want to take
this written moment to greet you. As family we have not
met before, or have met in times past, we invite you to join
us on this spiritual journey of connectivity. In an effort to
meet a variety of worship needs, we offer two worship
services. Our 8:00 a.m. Worship and Word (1st and 3rd
Sundays only) is a non-traditional worship service. Our
10:45 a.m. Sunday Morning Glory Worship is a blending
of traditional and contemporary worship. In addition, we
invite you to join us every Wednesday at 7 p.m. for
Wednesday in the Word with yours truly. Lastly, if you are
without a place to call home, We would love to be your
church family of faith, and I would LOVE to serve you
as your Pastor! Shalom.

Men and Women’s Day 2015! The annual worship that
celebrates our joint uniqueness as God’s children has been
rescheduled to Sunday, March 8th at 10:45 a.m. For those
who only like to publically sing once a year, we encourage
you to participate in the Men and Women’s Day choir. The
rehearsal dates are as follow:
 February 10th at 6 p.m.
 February 24th at 6 p.m.
 March 3rd at 7 p.m.
All members are asked to sow an additional seed of $200
for this yearly celebration. You may begin sowing your seed
today.
Christian Education Classes Now Available! The first
semester of new Bible classes will begin Monday,
February 16th. Classes will be offered during the week, as
well as the weekend. Classes will include day and evening
options. Classes being offered are as follow:
 Introduction to the Bible
 Survey of the Old Testament
 Falling in Love With Jesus
 Bad Girls of the Bible
Registration is required, and is taking place immediately
after morning worship in the narthex. A detailed description
of each class will be available during registration.

The mission and purpose of The faith family of
West Point Baptist Church is to fulfill the Great Commission
of Jesus Christ, “Go ye therefore and make disciples of all
nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the
Son and of the Holy Spirit (St. Matthew 28:19).” We meet this
challenge through our worship, ministry and outreach.
