This week as we enter the Second Week of Lent the call to repent and conversion
continues. In the Parish there will many opportunities for Reconciliation, or
confession. Over the last two decades Reconciliation has been misunderstood; this
sacrament is one of the great healing sacraments of the Church. Many who have
approached it that way have encountered a compassionate and healing encounter
with Christ. Remember, you are welcomed by Christ and the priest when you
approach the Sacrament of Penance.
Over the years many have expressed that they are afraid. I say not to be afraid, but
it is natural to be nervous, especially when confessing some of your life’s secrets
and sins. Ponder the following questions:
Welcome. Has it been a while since your last confession? Do you have questions
about the Sacrament such as: It’s been so long, I cannot remember the words. I
have committed too many sins; the priest will never forgive me. Does the
Church still teach that we have to go to Confession? What's the Sacrament
even called? Is it Penance, Reconciliation or Confession?
If you have experienced any of these thoughts you are not alone. You are invited to
ask any of the priests or deacons of the Parish these questions. Alternatively, the
Saint Anne website and the apps which can be downloaded today have a section on
the Sacrament of Reconciliation. This weekend is download weekend for the Parish
app. Many of the youth and staff will be in the narthex to help you download.

Yo he cometido muchos
Padre John
