About IDAC Founded in 1985, the Infectious Disease Association of California is a non-profit organization (Tax ID # 95-4106813), serving the educational needs of medical doctors in California with an interest in Clinical Infectious Diseases/HIV. IDAC is a regional society affiliated with the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the HIV Medical Association, as well as a recognized specialty society of the California Medical Association. IDAC conducts two symposia per year, publishes a quarterly newsletter, conducts research addressing clinical and business issues pertaining to the practice of Infectious Diseases, operates an Internet web site and e-mail network, and coordinates a Speakers Bureau. Full Membership is open to physicians practicing in California. Associate Membership is open to physicians practicing outside California, pharmacists, Ph.D.s, R.N.s, infection control practitioners, and microbiologists. Dues are $125 per year. Membership is also available to I.D. Fellows-inTraining in California at no charge. ABOUT CACC Founded in 1978, the California APIC Coordinating Council (CACC) is a statewide steering committee for California’s local APIC chapters, representing the collective interests of Infection Preventionists throughout the state. CACC’s mission is to legislate, communicate, and educate it’s members on issues related to infection control and provide input to the national APIC organization. The Spring Symposium mixes the discussion of clinical infectious disease topics, with time to enjoy the destination and socialize with colleagues and their families. This year’s event takes place at the Westin South Coast Plaza Hotel, Costa Mesa, CA. As presented within this brochure, it will consist of 9 CME sessions and Break-Out sessions for physicians, pharmacists, and infection control practitioners. A Reception and Symposium Banquet will take place at the Seasons 52 restaurant at South Coast Plaza, across from the Westin Hotel. Target Audience This activity is designed to meet the educational needs of physicians, pharmacists, researchers, infection control practitioners/nurses, and microbiologists with an interest in infectious diseases, HIV medicine, and infection control. Cme Curricular Goals & Objectives Upon completion of this activity, the participant will be able to: Understand the impact of gut microbiota on human health and disease and apply this knowledge to applications of antimicrobials. Apply new recommendations for physician attire on hospital-based infection control procedures. Apply new recommendations for evidence-based antibiotic management in patient care. Apply new recommendations for the diagnosis, screening, treatment, and prevention of Carbapenem-Resistant Enterobacteriaceae. Apply utilization of new laboratory testing techniques in implementing an antimicrobial stewardship program. Apply new recommendations for the diagnosis and treatment of infectious disease cases from a pathologist’s point of view. Apply new recommendations for the diagnosis, screening, treatment, and prevention for Ebola and other global health issues. Apply new recommendations for the diagnosis, screening, treatment, and prevention for emerging infectious disease outbreaks.
