markers. For each shoe box being sent, $7 is needed for postage. If
you can help, please take an offering envelope, mark “Shoe Box
Postage,” enclose your gift, and place it in the collection plate. Any
items being donated can be left in the red tubs in the lobby. For more
information, please see Kelly Garner.

*Olympian Leaders will meet today following the Morning
Service in the Fellowship Hall for a Planning Meeting.
*Teens, there are several practices this week, and they include the following:
The Drama Team will practice this afternoon from 3 pm to 4:30 pm in the
Fellowship Hall.
The Higher Ground Teen Choir will practice tonight following the Evening Service in
the Fellowship Hall.
Please note that puppets will not practice today, but will practice this Wednesday,
March 11th, at 6:15 pm in the Fellowship Hall West Lobby.
*The Annual Business Meeting will be
tonight following the Evening Service.
*Volunteers are needed for a Christian Service Opportunity to
prepare new move-in letters for bulk mailing tomorrow, Monday, March 9th,
at 9:30 am in the Fellowship Hall.
*Visitation:
There will be Morning Visitation tomorrow, Monday,
March 9th, at 10 am, and those coming will meet in the Fellowship Hall with
Bro. Don Bowling. Lunch will be served following Morning Visitation. Those
coming tomorrow night for Evening Visitation at 7 pm will meet in the
Auditorium with Bro. Larry Mayberry. Some of the calls made include new
visitors to the church, those who have made altar decisions, and those in the
congregation in the hospital or a rehab facility, those who are recuperating at
home from recent surgery or illnesses, and those who are unable to come to
church due to ongoing health issues. If you haven’t come to Visitation for
awhile or have never come, come out and you will be sent out with someone
to make a visit. Also, on Monday nights, services are held at the American
House on Joy Road in Westland and the Marquette House in Westland. There
is also visitation at Four Seasons Nursing Center in Westland along with a
service on the first Monday of the month. People are needed at these facilities
to help bring residents to and from the services and to visit with residents.
Please stop by the Welcome Desk or call the Church Office for more
information.
*Kids Aloud will practice tomorrow, Monday, March 9th, from 7 pm to
8 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Any child in Grades 1-6 is welcome to participate.
The next practice date is 3/23. For more information, see Ken or Beth Kahl.
*Olympians have their Silver Level Goal Date set for this Wednesday,
March 11th. Those who earn their Silver Level as of this Wednesday will be
eligible to take the Silver Level Verse Test the following Wednesday (March
18th). There will be a study night for the verse test on Tuesday, March
17th, from 7 pm to 8:15 pm in the Fellowship Hall. For more
information, please see any Olympian leader.
*The Men’s Bible Study will meet this Thursday, March 12th, at 7 pm to continue the study, “Authentic: Developing the Disciplines of a Sincere Faith,” by James MacDonald. Additional class dates are 3/26, 4/9, 4/23, 5/7 & 5/21. For more information, please see Wayne Goward. *Gophers will meet this Friday, March 13th, from 6:30 pm to 8 pm in the
Fellowship Hall for "Restaurant Night." Gophers will be able to create their own
special dinner from the Pasta Bar. There will be a devotion, some games, and
Gophers are invited to dress up in their “fancy clothes” for this night. And, each child
is welcome to bring $1 to be given to the Hillcrest 2 Soup Fund (to feed children in
the Philippines). Hope to see each Gopher there and bring a friend with you.
*Join us this Saturday, March 14th, for the
family film, “Hoovey,” at 6 pm. When promising high school
basketball player Eric “Hoovey” Elliott collapses on the court, doctors discover a lifethreatening brain tumor. Hoovey will survive the high-risk surgery, but at what cost?
Can he relearn to walk, read, even to see clearly? The road is long, and meanwhile
overwhelming medical bills threaten to undo everything his parents, Jeff and Ruth,
have taken a lifetime to build. With seemingly no one to turn to—but with tenacity
and love born of faith—an entire family regains its footing. Hoovey learns to read
again, to dribble and shoot a basketball and, finally, stepping out in faith, he’s back
on court for another shot at his dream. This is a great opportunity to invite your
family, friends, and neighbors to an event at the church. Cost is $5 per person, and
you can reserve your spot at the Welcome Desk.
*Teens have an afterglow next Sunday, March 15th, following the Evening
Service to go bowling. Cost is $6, and this includes two hours of bowling with
shoes. The Snack Bar will be open so that you can purchase food and beverages.
For this activity, teens must have a permission form on file with the Church
Office. Return time to the church will be closer to 10 pm (teens will finish
bowling at 9:30 pm and then return to the church). The cost to bowl will be
collected the night of the activity.
*Olympians can take part in the Olympian Bucks program now through
Wednesday, March 18th. Olympians can earn “bucks” by participating in club in a
number of ways, ie, completion of seven days of Quiet Time for the week, bringing
their Bible to club, quoting the verses they have learned, attending club activities,
answering Quiz Time questions, having a leader make a visit to their home, passing
their verse test, etc. Olympians will be able to redeem their bucks on Wednesday,
March 25th, during club at the Olympian Bucks Store.
*Olympians will meet on Friday, March 20th, for “Good v Bad Guys of
the Bible” at 6 pm in the Fellowship Hall. Dinner will be served (super nacho’s
& more), and Olympians will rotate through several stations where they will
learn about some of the good and bad guys in the Bible. There will also be
some games along with prizes. Cost is $5 (collected that night), and the activity
will conclude at 8:30 pm.
*Nonperishable items will be collected on the fourth Sunday
of each month for the Food Pantry. Items always needed for the Food
Pantry include cereal, soup, tuna, spaghetti sauce & noodles. Please bring
anything you can contribute for those in need on Sunday, March 22nd, and
drop it off at the west end of the outer hallway.
*For those going to the Detroit Rescue Mission Service
on Sunday, March 22nd, you’ll leave the church at 6 pm. Fair
Haven holds a service at the mission on the fourth Sunday night of each
month as well as when there is a fifth Sunday night in the month (four
times per year). Each service provides the opportunity to share the
gospel and to strengthen and encourage believers in their walk for
Christ. Additional volunteers are always welcome at the services. For
more information, please see Dan Mason.
*Ladies, come and join us for a “Craft Night”
on Friday, March 27th, from 3 pm to 11 pm. There is no cost for this activity
– it is just a time set aside for ladies to get together to work on their own
crafts. Feel free to bring your own snacks; pop will be provided. Please sign
up at the Welcome Desk by Wednesday, March 25th, so we will know how
many tables will be needed for the night.
*Olympians have a Christian Service Opportunity to bring candy for
the Children’s Easter Candy Hunt. This will be collected each Wednesday at
club through April 1st.
*Olympians will have “Egg Night” on Wednesday, April 1st. Each
Olympian can bring a decorated egg or a diorama with egg(s) to be displayed
during Olympian Club. Each Olympian who brings a decorated egg or a
diorama with egg(s) will receive a prize. There will also be prizes awarded for
the best in each level (1st&2nd, 3rd&4th, and 5th&6th).
*The Senior Lunch (for those Age 50 & above & their friends)
will be Thursday, April 2nd, at 10 am in the Fellowship Hall. Youth
Director Seth McDonald will bring the message. Along with a great
message from God’s Word, there will be a delicious meal along with
lots of fun and fellowship so plan to come.
*The Children’s Easter Candy Hunt will be Saturday, April 4th, at 10:30 am. In preparation for this activity, we are collecting wrapped candy at the Welcome Desk and the Church Office. *Seniors
will go to the Butterfly House on the Michigan State Campus
on Thursday, April 9th, at 9 am. Following the visit to the Butterfly House,
you will stop for lunch at the Cracker Barrel in Okemos. Cost is $6 which
includes admission to the Butterfly House and $4 for fuel. You will also need
to bring money for lunch. Thirty people can go on this trip, and you can
reserve your spot at the Welcome Desk through Sunday, April 5th (no
refunds after this date). If you have any questions, please see Pansy Bradley.
*The Church will have a Bridal Shower for Sam
Stark on Friday, April 10th, at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall (fiancée of Jake
Browning). All ladies and their daughters are invited to attend the shower. There is
a sign-up sheet at the Welcome Desk to let us know if you are coming and what
dish you wish to bring to pass. Those coming are asked to bring a meat/main dish,
side dish or a dessert. The church will provide a cake and the beverages. Sam is
registered at Bed, Bath & Beyond and Target. If you wish to contribute to a group
gift, you may do so at the Welcome Desk through Wednesday, April 8th, and we
ask those who contribute to sign the card for the group gift. Ladies, we ask that at
the Church Shower there be no gifts of a personal nature. For more information,
please stop by the Welcome Desk.
*A Soul-Winning Class will be offered each Monday at the church beginning April 13th from 6 pm to 7 pm. The “Operation Go” course is 10 weeks and meets in the first classroom as you enter the Old Basement. Each Monday following class, you will go with your trainer on Evening Visitation from 7 pm to 8:15 pm. There is a cost for the class of $53 for the Trainee Guide and books. Church members will be reimbursed for this fee upon successful completion of the class. This class is open to adults & teens. You can reserve your spot at the Welcome Desk. We need a variety of help even if you do not scrapbook or make cards. All materials will be provided to assemble the cards. There is something for everyone regardless of your creativity level. A snack will be served. *Teen Camp will be Monday, July 20th, through Saturday, July 25th, and
Junior Camp will be Monday, June 22nd, through Saturday, June 27th, at Camp

number that is listed on the flier to enroll). When you sign up, you will receive a Fun
Funds Card that you can use each time you go to GFS.
*Did you know that there are men available to park your vehicle for you? You can drive your vehicle under one of the porticos in front of the glass entry doors and one of the men will park your vehicle. At the conclusion of the service, they will drive your vehicle back to the front of the church. Their goal is to provide a secure parking service to make it easier for people to come to church. The men are available on Sunday mornings, Sunday evenings, and Wednesday evenings. For more information, please see Keith A. Glassmeyer or stop by the Welcome Desk.
