Incident Investigation Matters!
“When I get brought in to handle a prosecution, I often look at the disclosure
and think, if only they handled the investigation better they may have been able
to demonstrate due diligence and never been charged in the first place!"
Jamie Jurczak, Labour Lawyer, Taylor McCaffrey, LLP
A serious incident has just occurred at your workplace. Now what? When a
worker is injured on the job, the employer is automatically considered guilty
until they can prove their due diligence. Currently in Manitoba, an average of
one company is successfully prosecuted every four weeks! Recent fines have
reached $187,500 and these organizations are left with a permanent criminal
record.
By popular request by you we are holding an Incident Investigation Course. In
this very special event you will learn the intimate details of what it takes to
prepare an incident investigation to minimize legal fallout and repercussions.
Our main goal is that through this learning, the real outcome will be prevention
of serious incidents so that they never occur in your workplace.
Workshop content to include (but not be limited to):
 Immediate actions to take after a serious incident has occurred
 Workplace incident investigation techniques to avoid being charged
 The one thing that stayed charges generally have in common
 Your rights once a serious incident has occurred
 Protecting the information provided and limits of solicitor client
privilege
 Case studies based on recent incidents
 Incident causation theory and root cause analyses to prevent future
incidents
Who Should Attend? Anyone who may be
called upon to be involved in an incident
investigation including owners, managers,
supervisors, HR Professionals, safety
personnel, occupational safety & health
committee members and representatives.
