ASIAN APOSTOLIC CONGRESS ON MERCY â AACOM 2015
THIRD ASIAN APOSTOLIC CONGRESS ON MERCY MEDAN-NORTH SUMATRA, INDONESIA. October 14 – 16, 2015. Theme: “Jesus Christ, the Mercy of God: The Way to Reconciliation” Venue: Santika Dyandra Convention Centre, Medan. There is no coincidence in God’s merciful dealings with humankind. It is, therefore, an amazing and God-given grace that as we are preparing ourselves to participate in the upcoming “AACOM 2015”, Pope Francis, on March 13th, 2015, graced us by announcing the “Jubilee of Mercy” to be celebrated from December 8 th, 2015 to November 20th, 2016. This proclamation of the “HOLY YEAR OF MERCY”, which will begin on December 8th – barely two months afterwards - makes us consider it most appropriate that this up-coming “AACOM 2015” be the immediate spiritual preparation to enter the “Jubilee of Mercy” which “has at its centre the mercy of God”. The theme for this up-coming “AACOM 2015” is, “Jesus Christ, the Mercy of God: The Way to Reconciliation”, and this has a direct reference to the Jubilee. DAY ONE – 14th October, 2015. (Wednesday): Official Opening of the CONGRESS with the Eucharistic Celebration followed by welcoming addresses, the official inauguration of the “Divine Mercy Shrine” construction. Afternoon sessions include a 3-minute Presentation of Reports from Asian countries, the “Hour of Mercy Prayer”, Reflections and Testimonies and end with “Welcoming Dinner” and “Indonesia Cultural Fest”. DAY TWO – 15th October, 2015 (Thursday): The day begins with Reflections and Sharing/Testimonies, “Hour of Mercy” and concludes with Eucharistic Celebration, “Indoor Tour of Medan Social Life” and “Youth Night”. This “AACOM 2015” is intended to be a forum for formation to ignite and keep glowing the “Spirituality of the Divine Mercy” and live it in the ardour and spirit of St. Pope John Paul II, the late Fr. Marcellinus Manalu, OFM., Cap., Archbishop Emeritus, Alfred Gonti Pius Datubara, OFM., Cap., and His Holiness, Pope Francis, who said “the Church is the house where everyone is welcomed and no one is rejected.” (Vatican: 13th March, 2015) Topics of Conferences: - The 3-fold Office of Jesus: Priestly, Prophetic and Kingly (Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle) - A Biblical Foundation of Reconciliation (Bishop Vincentius Sutikno Wisaksono) - Jesus, the Eternal High Priest in the Image of the Divine Mercy (Fr.
