Kitty Van Bortel hosted another Corvette Car Show, at the Van Bortel Chevy store in Macedon NY,
that is second to none! The weather was beautiful - a little hot - another great day for a car show.
There were 220 corvettes, from a 1954 white corvette to the latest 2017 Grand Sports. Food,
beverages and ice cream were provided as well as prizes, gift bags, and a DJ.
The Corvette Clubs of Buffalo, WNY, and Syracuse had representatives attend. Everyone had a
great time. Also, the Macedon Fire Department brought their ladder truck for some of us to go up
and take pictures. Thanks again to Kitty, Nate, Matt, and John for a great day!

Well, July and August have come and gone. Everyone who complained about the cold winter got their
wish as we had a long period of hot and dry weather. Bad for the crops, but great for getting the corvettes
out as much as we wanted. It’s been a pretty busy two months with several shows, cruises, parades, and
our summer picnic to fill the days and nights.
Let’s start with our own show, Wheels in Motion. Dave Kuchman and his team did an outstanding
job of pulling off our most successful show yet. The date was perfect and the weather cooperated. We
had a great turnout of 200 cars with contingents from both the Buffalo and Syracuse clubs as well as
support from several local clubs including the Rochester Volkswagen club joining us.
For our racing fans, John Och coordinated groups for both the Sahlens 6 Hours at the Glen as well
as the Mosport Grand Prix.
We had the largest turnout ever, for our club, at our summer picnic held at Shadow Lake Golf Club.
Over 70 cars and 140 guests enjoyed a great afternoon.
We can’t forget the many parades that the RCC was asked to participate in. Many of our club
members were there to support our National and Local holidays with Carmella doing her usual great
job of keeping us all in line.
Follow all of that up with groups going to the Syracuse Corvette Club’s Corvettes at the Beach show,
Corvettes at Carlisle, and the Buffalo Corvette Club sponsored Caravan, as well as Van Bortel’s Sponsor’s
Appreciation All Corvette Show. Plus several local shows and cruise-ins. We had a full, but enjoyable series
of events to keep anyone who was interested busy.
There are too many to name, but I want to thank everyone who helped to organize and coordinate
all of this activity. Without our members help, we would not come close to doing all of this every year!

RCC at the Corvettes of Buffalo Caravan
In the early, early morning of August 21, eight corvettes from the RCC met at Tinseltown to caravan up to Boston,
NY for the 12th annual escorted caravan and luncheon put on by the Corvettes of Buffalo Club. Another group of
six RCC corvettes caravaned to join the rest of us from the Leroy exit. The caravan started at Cappellino Chevrolet
in Boston, NY and traveled 85 miles to the Grapevine Banquet Hall in Depew, NY.
The New York State Police, Sherriff’s Departments, and local police blocked all intersections as the 140 car caravan
rambled through the countryside in single file.
Breakfast was served upon our arrival at Cappelino’s Chevy and a very nice luncheon was served at the end of the
caravan at the Grapevine Banquet Hall. Everyone received a door prize and could participate in the 50/50 raffle.

Corvette Racing Summer 2016 Corvette Racing has participated in five races
during July and August, three of them within a short day’s drive from the Rochester area.
Watkins Glen While the race outcome for Corvette Racing at the Sahlens Six Hours
at the Glen race was less than stellar ( 4th and 7th place), the event itself was terrific! In
the three short years that Corvette Racing has participated in the race at WGI and GM
has sponsored a Corvette Corral, it has grown to the best attended corral in the series. This year’s head count was 400 people.
That’s a lot of Corvette fans! Many thanks to those who volunteered. A red, white and blue Corvette parking display was created
in honor of Independence Day.
Mosport / Canadian Tire Motorsport Park The Mosport race in Canada was the weekend following WGI. Mosport is also
an old school race track like Watkins Glen and also a favorite of many drivers. The Corvette Corral is sponsored not by GM but a
local Chevy dealer and is much smaller than Watkins Glen. Corvette Racing, whose wins to date had totaled 99, was hoping for a
victory - especially since some of the engine restrictions that had been placed on them had been lifted. We ran consistent and
competitive but did not capture race win #100. The Ford had a better pit stop near the end of the race that allowed them to cross
the finish line ahead of us. Corvette Racing placed second and third for a podium finish.

THE ANNUAL RCC WHEELS IN MOTION CAR SHOW submitted by Dave Norton
The weather was perfect at Charlotte Beach on July 23, 2016 for the annual RCC Wheels in Motion Car Show.
Dave Kuchman and staff did a remarkable job considering there were only 80 pre-registered vehicles but another
120 or so showed up! After some early monring logistics were figured out, the show was a real success.
The Corvette Clubs from Buffalo and Syracuse showed up with a contingency. Thanks to them for coming to our
show. The VW Club also showed along with the Street Machines and the Mustang Club too.
Best Show Car - 1954 Chevy
The #4 car claimed the 100th win! The #3 car came in second for a 1-2 finish.
Road America As stated on the Bad Boy Vettes website “The green flag came out with 5 minutes left and all hell broke loose.”
The #4 Corvette was in 5th place. ( For those who have never seen a race, this is a good one to watch. IMSA.com has rebroadcasts
available to see ). Lots of expensive bumper car contact and Corvette Racing sailed through to win #101!
Virginia International Raceway (VIR) The #3 car qualified first and stayed that way through the entire race! Victory #102!
The #4 car had a good run but had a tire barrier incident late in the race.

Happy 100th Anniversary of the City’s annexation of the Village of Charlotte and the 100th year since Wegmans was
founded. It was a wonderful day-long celebration.
RCC at Charcoal Corral - Perry NY submitted by Dave Norton
Tuesday August 16 started out very wet in Rochester NY, but the folks who signed up to travel to the
Charcoal Corral persevered and all met at the Lowe’s parking lot in Henrietta to caravan to Perry NY. As we
headed south, the skies cleared and it turned out to be a beautiful day for lunch and miniature golf afterwards.
The newly formed JULIET Group (Just Us Ladies Inclusively Eating Together) joined the ROMEO Group
(Retired Old Men Eating Out) for some fun and games. We finally found Jim Totsline’s exclusive reserved
parking space (picture included). Jim Boshears, Jim Carroll, Steve Finn, Jerry Giacoman, Jim Hill, Rick Martin,
Dave Norton, Dan Riccardi, Bud Thayer, Jim Totsline, Ted Voll and Larry Weingartner made up the Romeo part
of the group. The founding members of the JULIETs group are Terri Giacoman, Roseann Lucania, Sue Norton,
Maryann Riccardi and Paula Weingartner.
Lunch was great and I think the most popular meal ordered was the steak supreme sandwich. They also had
a fried bologna sandwich which was ordered too. Jim Totsline arranged for us to have a private room in the
back for our group. The entire facility is top notch place to have a gathering. After lunch ten of us hung around
and played 18 holes of miniature golf. Everyone threw in a dollar for the top three prizes. The winners were Jim
Hill, Roseann Luciana, and Dave Norton. Guess who ended up in the stocks? We ended up in the ice cream
parlor for ice cream and presentation of awards.

Our Wheels in Motion Car Show on July 23, 2016 held in conjunction with “The Lakeside Summer Celebration”
was a great success this year! Events scheduled for that day by the City of Rochester and the Ontario Beach
Program Committee were a huge success for all. Wegmans celebrated their 100th Birthday and the 100th
Anniversary of the City’s annexation of the village of Charlotte. Honor Flight and The Patriot Guard had displays at
the show. The cars started arriving about 8:00 AM to be a beautiful day for a car show at the beach. The
park/beach atmosphere was a great setting for a car show with 194 vehicles on the grass under the trees. Several
bands played in the gazebo through out the day. The day ended with a spectacular fireworks display.
Judging began at 11:00 AM and Class Awards were given out about 3:30 PM. Many Best Awards, Favorite Awards
and a tall Best in Show trophy was won by Scott Martin with a 1954 Custom Chevrolet. We also had a Kid’s Choice
Award won by Jason Haag with a 1968 VW Bug Top Bus, Best Club Participation Award won by the Finger Lakes
Region Volkswagen Club and Longest Distance Award which went to the Syracuse Corvette Club.

Our Wheels in Motion Car Show on July 23, 2016 held in conjunction with “The Lakeside Summer Celebration”
was a great success this year! Events scheduled for that day by the City of Rochester and the Ontario Beach
Program Committee were a huge success for all. Wegmans celebrated their 100th Birthday and the 100th
Anniversary of the City’s annexation of the village of Charlotte. Honor Flight and The Patriot Guard had displays at
the show. The cars started arriving about 8:00 AM to be a beautiful day for a car show at the beach. The
park/beach atmosphere was a great setting for a car show with 194 vehicles on the grass under the trees. Several
bands played in the gazebo through out the day. The day ended with a spectacular fireworks display.
Judging began at 11:00 AM and Class Awards were given out about 3:30 PM. Many Best Awards, Favorite Awards
and a tall Best in Show trophy was won by Scott Martin with a 1954 Custom Chevrolet. We also had a Kid’s Choice
Award won by Jason Haag with a 1968 VW Bug Top Bus, Best Club Participation Award won by the Finger Lakes
Region Volkswagen Club and Longest Distance Award which went to the Syracuse Corvette Club.

Happy 100th Anniversary of the City’s annexation of the Village of Charlotte and the 100th year since Wegmans was
founded. It was a wonderful day-long celebration.
RCC at Charcoal Corral - Perry NY submitted by Dave Norton
Tuesday August 16 started out very wet in Rochester NY, but the folks who signed up to travel to the
Charcoal Corral persevered and all met at the Lowe’s parking lot in Henrietta to caravan to Perry NY. As we
headed south, the skies cleared and it turned out to be a beautiful day for lunch and miniature golf afterwards.
The newly formed JULIET Group (Just Us Ladies Inclusively Eating Together) joined the ROMEO Group
(Retired Old Men Eating Out) for some fun and games. We finally found Jim Totsline’s exclusive reserved
parking space (picture included). Jim Boshears, Jim Carroll, Steve Finn, Jerry Giacoman, Jim Hill, Rick Martin,
Dave Norton, Dan Riccardi, Bud Thayer, Jim Totsline, Ted Voll and Larry Weingartner made up the Romeo part
of the group. The founding members of the JULIETs group are Terri Giacoman, Roseann Lucania, Sue Norton,
Maryann Riccardi and Paula Weingartner.
Lunch was great and I think the most popular meal ordered was the steak supreme sandwich. They also had
a fried bologna sandwich which was ordered too. Jim Totsline arranged for us to have a private room in the
back for our group. The entire facility is top notch place to have a gathering. After lunch ten of us hung around
and played 18 holes of miniature golf. Everyone threw in a dollar for the top three prizes. The winners were Jim
Hill, Roseann Luciana, and Dave Norton. Guess who ended up in the stocks? We ended up in the ice cream
parlor for ice cream and presentation of awards.

Corvette Racing Summer 2016 Corvette Racing has participated in five races
during July and August, three of them within a short day’s drive from the Rochester area.
Watkins Glen While the race outcome for Corvette Racing at the Sahlens Six Hours
at the Glen race was less than stellar ( 4th and 7th place), the event itself was terrific! In
the three short years that Corvette Racing has participated in the race at WGI and GM
has sponsored a Corvette Corral, it has grown to the best attended corral in the series. This year’s head count was 400 people.
That’s a lot of Corvette fans! Many thanks to those who volunteered. A red, white and blue Corvette parking display was created
in honor of Independence Day.
Mosport / Canadian Tire Motorsport Park The Mosport race in Canada was the weekend following WGI. Mosport is also
an old school race track like Watkins Glen and also a favorite of many drivers. The Corvette Corral is sponsored not by GM but a
local Chevy dealer and is much smaller than Watkins Glen. Corvette Racing, whose wins to date had totaled 99, was hoping for a
victory - especially since some of the engine restrictions that had been placed on them had been lifted. We ran consistent and
competitive but did not capture race win #100. The Ford had a better pit stop near the end of the race that allowed them to cross
the finish line ahead of us. Corvette Racing placed second and third for a podium finish.

THE ANNUAL RCC WHEELS IN MOTION CAR SHOW submitted by Dave Norton
The weather was perfect at Charlotte Beach on July 23, 2016 for the annual RCC Wheels in Motion Car Show.
Dave Kuchman and staff did a remarkable job considering there were only 80 pre-registered vehicles but
another 120 or so showed up! After some early morning logistics were figured out, the show was a real success.
The Corvette Clubs from Buffalo and Syracuse showed up with a contingency. Thanks to them for coming to our
show. The VW Club also showed along with the Street Machines and the Mustang Club too.
Best Show Car - 1954 Chevy
The #4 car claimed the 100th win! The #3 car came in second for a 1-2 finish.
Road America As stated on the Bad Boy Vettes website “The green flag came out with 5 minutes left and all hell broke loose.”
The #4 Corvette was in 5th place. ( For those who have never seen a race, this is a good one to watch. IMSA.com has rebroadcasts
available to see ). Lots of expensive bumper car contact and Corvette Racing sailed through to win #101!
Virginia International Raceway (VIR) The #3 car qualified first and stayed that way through the entire race! Victory #102!
The #4 car had a good run but had a tire barrier incident late in the race.

Registration is now open for the 22nd Anniversary Corvette Celebration and Hall of Fame being held on September
1 - 3, 2016.
On your next visit to the National Corvette Museum, check out the “Indy 500 Exhibit” with 12 Indy cars on display
in the Exhibit Hall through October 14, 2016.

RCC at the Corvettes of Buffalo Caravan
In the early, early morning of August 21, eight corvettes from the RCC met at Tinseltown to caravan up to Boston,
NY for the 12th annual escorted caravan and luncheon put on by the Corvettes of Buffalo Club. Another group of
six RCC corvettes caravaned to join the rest of us from the Leroy exit. The caravan started at Cappellino Chevrolet
in Boston, NY and traveled 85 miles to the Grapevine Banquet Hall in Depew, NY.
The New York State Police, Sherriff’s Departments, and local police blocked all intersections as the 140 car caravan
rambled through the countryside in single file.
Breakfast was served upon our arrival at Cappelino’s Chevy and a very nice luncheon was served at the end of the
caravan at the Grapevine Banquet Hall. Everyone received a door prize and could participate in the 50/50 raffle.

Well, July and August have come and gone. Everyone who complained about the cold winter got their
wish as we had a long period of hot and dry weather. Bad for the crops, but great for getting the corvettes
out as much as we wanted. It’s been a pretty busy two months with several shows, cruises, parades, and
our summer picnic to fill the days and nights.
Let’s start with our own show, Wheels in Motion. Dave Kuchman and his team did an outstanding
job of pulling off our most successful show yet. The date was perfect and the weather cooperated. We
had a great turnout of 200 cars with contingents from both the Buffalo and Syracuse clubs as well as
support from several local clubs including the Rochester Volkswagen club joining us.
For our racing fans, John Och coordinated groups for both the Sahlens 6 Hours at the Glen as well
as the Mosport Grand Prix.
We had the largest turnout ever, for our club, at our summer picnic held at Shadow Lake Golf Club.
Over 70 cars and 140 guests enjoyed a great afternoon.
We can’t forget the many parades that the RCC was asked to participate in. Many of our club
members were there to support our National and Local holidays with Carmella doing her usual great
job of keeping us all in line.
Follow all of that up with groups going to the Syracuse Corvette Club’s Corvettes at the Beach show,
Corvettes at Carlisle, and the Buffalo Corvette Club sponsored Caravan, as well as Van Bortel’s Sponsor’s
Appreciation All Corvette Show. Plus several local shows and cruise-ins. We had a full, but enjoyable series
of events to keep anyone who was interested busy.
There are too many to name, but I want to thank everyone who helped to organize and coordinate
all of this activity. Without our members help, we would not come close to doing all of this every year!

thrilled to see these beauties as well as catch the
candy that was tossed to them!

Kitty Van Bortel hosted another Corvette Car Show, at the Van Bortel Chevy store in Macedon NY,
that is second to none! The weather was beautiful - a little hot - another great day for a car show.
There were 220 corvettes, from a 1954 white corvette to the latest 2017 Grand Sports. Food,
beverages and ice cream were provided as well as prizes, gift bags, and a DJ.
The Corvette Clubs of Buffalo, WNY, and Syracuse had representatives attend. Everyone had a
great time. Also, the Macedon Fire Department brought their ladder truck for some of us to go up
and take pictures. Thanks again to Kitty, Nate, Matt, and John for a great day!
