Ride, cycle or walk the 75 km Kep Track, or sections of it, from Mundaring Weir to Northam, from jarrah forests in the Perth Hills through small settlements and towns to the wide open spaces of farming country. Mundaring Weir is a priority one water catchment area. note: switch back on Johnson Street This small centre used to be a busy junction where the main line via Parkerville met the Mundaring branch line. Both former railway reserves are now trails so you can combine the Mt Helena to Mundaring section of the Kep with a loop that goes down to Greenmount via Darlington and returns via John Forrest National Park. The plant is now closed, only a foundry operates. 0 5 km Judging from the popularity of the Pie Shop, you would be forgiven for thinking Bakers Hill was named for a baker. Rather it takes its name from an individual’s family name. K e p Tr a c k N Wundowie Foundry Northam is a picturesque and historic town situated on the banks of the Avon River. As the commercial centre of the agriculturally-rich Avon Valley, it also boasts numerous shops, hotels and a visitor centre. TOODYAY Explore the river banks and streets to view 100-year old buildings and dare to cross Australia’s longest suspension bridge to see the town’s famous white swans.
