Communicating with Presence and Influence
Counts as one unit towards the Schools Leadership Colloquium Utilising the nationally recognised NESLI Online Learning Platform Communicating with Presence and Influence An advanced communication skills program for teachers throughout Queensland Communication skills are important for many professions but are particularly crucial for teachers. Teachers communicate with students, parents, colleagues and school leaders every day. Proficient communicators receive information, understand and synthesise it and express themselves at a high level. They make excellent teachers because they are able to transmit knowledge, skills and values not only to their students but throughout the broader school community. Communicating with Presence and Influence is a four week online course specifically designed to fast-track the communication skills of Australian teachers across four key communication channels, students, parents, colleagues and senior school leaders. The course commences with an exploration of ones preferred communication style and its impact on others and then moves on to explore effective strategies for communicating and influencing both inside and outside of the classroom. By the end of the course participants will gain an appreciation of how better communication leads to better results and how to effectively use a number of differing styles.
