 Call for Entries 3rd Annual Botanical and Floral Art in Bloom Exhibition The third annual Botanical and Floral Art in Bloom open submission exhibition will take place as part of Bloom 2015 from Thursday the 28th of May to Monday the 1st of June at the Visitor Centre in the Phoenix Park. This Exhibition is a showcase for Irish botanical and floral Artists and will include an exhibition opening on Thursday the 28th May at 6.30pm. Last year medals were awarded for works of particular merit. The exhibition is juried. Approximately 40 pieces of work will be shown. Artists are invited to submit up to three pieces of work. The conditions for entry are attached. We look forward to your entries. The Bloom Team Criteria for Submissions 1.
Up to three original pieces may be submitted by each artist. Submissions should be sent as a 300dpi jpeg with the attached entry form to: entries@bloominthepark.com. Please ensure that the jpeg is of a good enough quality and size so that the judges can see the image clearly. Originals or hard copy entries cannot be accepted 2. In the Botanical Art category, the judging panel will look for three-­‐dimensional drawings of appropriate subject matter where colour, tone and composition result in a pleasing and balanced portrait. Most important are botanical accuracy and the application of technique. Presentation and labelling are also considered. The same criteria will apply to the floral category excluding botanical accuracy. However the subject matter should be identifiable. 3. 4. 5. 6. Accepted works must be framed e.g. Watercolour, gouache, ink, acrylic, oil, pencil etc. All accepted works should be ready to hang with fixings and a label with artist's name and title of work on verso. Fine art prints will be accepted: for example, line-­‐engraving (colour), etching, lithograph, wood-­‐cut and other fine art print techniques. GICLEE PRINTS NOT ACCEPTED. Works should be no more than 70 cm. in any measurement including frame and no smaller than 25 cm in any measurement including frame. Works must be for sale and must not have been exhibited in OPW Visitor Centre, Phoenix Park, prior to Botanical and Floral Art in BLOOM exhibition, 2015. There will be a non-­‐refundable submission charge of €10 per painting (with a reduced fee of €25 for three paintings) to help with hanging costs and administration fees. Fees can be paid by Bank Transfer or Cheque. CHEQUES: Please make cheques payable to Garden Events Ltd and forward with a copy of your entry form to: Garden Events Ltd., 9 Sandyford Office Park, Dublin 18. entries@bloominthepark.com by Friday 27 March 2015. Work submitted will be assessed by an independent panel of judges. The judges’ decision will be made by Friday 24th April 2015 and artists will be notified by email following this assessment. The judge’s decision is final. Work accepted is to be delivered to the Visitor Centre, Phoenix Park on Monday the 25th May 2015 between 11.00hrs and 13:00hrs. Insurance for the duration of the exhibition and transport of works to and from the exhibition will be the responsibility of the artist. The utmost care will be taken of all works submitted for exhibition but, Bloom will not be responsible for any damage, loss or destruction to any such works for any reason whatsoever. All artists should therefore ensure that they have Insurance in place against all risks. st
20% commission will apply to any sales. Sold works are not to be removed until after the exhibition closes on 1 June. Unsold works are to be collected by the artist on Thursday the 4th June 2015 between 11.00hrs and 13:00hrs. Submission images should be sent as a 300dpi jpeg not less than 20cm and not more than 40cm in any dimension. Hard copy or postal entries cannot be accepted. Artists will be notified by email of a decision after the 24th of April 2015.
