The Hospital
Winner of the 2006 Premiers Award for Most Outstanding
Regional Hospital
LRH is a modern 283 bed fully integrated hospital. LRH is the
regional referral hospital for the Gippsland area servicing a
population of over 240,000 residents. The hospital treats
over 115,000 patients each year.
The hospital provides an extensive range of services that
include acute care, intensive/critical care, aged care, cancer
care, elective surgery, maternity, rehabilitation, paediatrics
and Mental health. It also runs eight community mental
health centres across Gippsland.
The hospital is undergoing significant expansion with a newly
constructed pharmacy aseptic suite, expansion of the
Gippsland Cancer Care Centre as well as a recently
announced funding for a new emergency department, a 30bed ward and a cardiac catheterisation laboratory.
LRH is a teaching hospital affiliated with many universities including Monash University and the
Monash School of Rural Health is located on site. The hospital provides a library service with access
to the internet and an extensive range of journals/textbooks. Other services include salary
packaging, Social Club activities and free staff car parking.

from Melbourne by car or train.
