This two day course substitutes for the 5 observations or 1 observation and 2 co-mediations required for registration as
a Domestic Relations mediator with the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution. This course will include mediation
observation and coached role plays with Dr. Susan Raines and a panel of expert mediators. Prerequisites: The 42-hour
Domestic Relations training must be completed. Trainees seeking to become register domestic relations mediators with
the Georgia Office of Dispute Resolution (GODR) must have completed the General Civil Mediation requirements and
have a 4-year college degree. Mediators have 18 months after training to become registered by GODR as a domestic
relations mediator or this (and all GODR-approved training) expires. 12 hours of Continuing Legal Education is
available at a cost.
Dr. Raines, is a Professor at Kennesaw State University and Editor-in-Chief of Conflict Resolution Quarterly.
In addition to teaching and research, she has mediated more than 10,000 civil and domestic disputes; she trains mediators in Georgia and around the world; she has designed and evaluated Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) programs
for numerous U.S. state and federal agencies, trained United Nations employees on cross-cultural conflict resolution,
regularly facilitates public meetings, & leads negotiated rulemaking processes. Her research includes investigations
into the usefulness of various mediation techniques, best practices for mediation training, and the use of facilitated dialogues for public decision making. She is a registered civil and domestic relations trainer in the state of Georgia, and
recognized as an Advanced Practitioner by the International Association for Conflict Resolution. Susan earned her
Ph.D. in Public Policy from Indiana University and her M.A. in Political Science from the University of Idaho.

does not imply that any particular court-annexed or court referred program must or will accept as neutrals those who have completed the program.
