Clean Cities Atlanta Petroleum Reduction Program Fact Sheet
Project Objectives

To increase the use of alternative fueled vehicles and advanced technology vehicles as a means
to reduce U.S. dependence on imported petroleum, increase fuel economy and improve
emissions.

To install infrastructure that supports alternative fuel vehicles.
Funding & Management

The project is largely funded via a $14.9 million grant awarded by the Department of Energy as
part of the America Recovery and Reinvestment Act and $24.5 million in local cost share.

Grant funding is administered by Department of Energy’s National Energy Technology
Laboratory (NETL). The project is sponsored by Clean Cities Atlanta and managed by the Center
for Transportation and the Environment.
Clean Cities Atlanta’s Project Objectives

Increase supply of alternative fuels
o Implement LNG-to-RNG facility at DeKalb County landfill

Increase availability of alternative fuels
o Implement 5 CNG fueling stations
o Upgrade one CNG fueling station to expand capacity

Reduce demand for petroleum-based fuels
o Deploy 30 Electric Hybrid and 20 Hydraulic Hybrid trucks
o Deploy 150 CNG vehicles

Provide Outreach/Marketing/Training

