Foundations to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)

International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
is a major issue for most companies and finance
professionals. Over 90% of the world‘s leading
economies either require IFRS or are converging
to it. In the Kingdom, it is the Saudi Organization
of Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) stated
goal to have made the transition to IFRS by 2017.
The course is designed to provide a foundation
to understanding IFRS and where it differs from
SOCPA standards.

This program is intended for professionals working in accounting, audit and finance who want to

practical aspects of IFRS.
Pieter is a South African qualified Chartered Accountant with extensive Financial Services experience,
both as a professional services provider and a
financial executive. He is currently Head of Financial
Review at one of the largest banks in the Kingdom
where he is tasked with reviewing its compliance
with IFRS. Pieter is a highly experienced presenter
in IFRS with over 20 years of industry experience.
He has worked with KPMG, PwC, Merrill Lynch,
GoldmanSachs, CSFB and ABB where he has gained
firsthand experience in the implementation of IFRS.

Tim is Senior Lecturer – Finance and Accounting at the Saudi Industrial Development Fund (SIDF). Prior
to joining SIDF in 2000, he gained significant experience and expertise in corporate financial distress and
turnaround situations in both senior executive and consulting capacities with a variety of manufacturing and
service entities in Canada. Tim has held his CMA designation since 1974, and later earned his MBA at St. Mary’s
University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada.

Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA)
What is CFA?
The Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) is a professional qualification offered by the Institute to investment
and financial professionals. A candidate who successfully completes the program and meets certain professional requirements is awarded the “CFA charter” and becomes a “CFA charter holder”.

•The CFA Program has been benchmarked as being comparable to master’s degree levels in finance in the

What is PMP?
The Project Management Institute’s Project Management Professional (PMP)® qualification is the most important industry recognized certification for project managers.
