Profile
• Marian is a Registered Nurse who has been qualified for 33 years. She has worked in general medical, surgical,
gynaecology, renal transplant, paediatric and orthopaedic fields
• She has vast experience with individuals with spinal cord injuries Marian has worked in a spinal injuries centre
specializing in delivering acute care to the spinal injured ventilated person
• Marian worked as a NHS Case Manager within the spinal injuries unit at Stoke Mandeville Hospital and was involved in liaising with the statutory services to coordination safe discharge of the spinally injured into the community.
• Marian has also worked in the community providing domiciliary care for individuals requiring mechanical ventilator support.
• Marian has worked for six years as a private Case Manager within the legal process, whose responsibility was to
rehabilitate her clients who had sustained spinal cord injuries, complex orthopaedic injuries and brain injury.
• She is also an expert in facilitating and managing complex care packages

Assessment Experience
• Specialist neurological initial needs assessment to identify all rehabilitation and care needs for the injured party
with brain injury and spinal injury
• Early assessment of injured parties whilst still in hospital to ensure appropriate discharge home
• Extensive knowledge of education systems across the UK including dealing directly with special needs teachers
and co-ordinators
• Case management of the injured party including:
- Provision of family support - Return to school/college assistance
- Accessing respite care - Assisting the injured party to access the community
- Reintroduction of leisure pursuits - Return to work assistance
- Facilitation and monitoring of treatment
- Recommendations and advice relating to care package requirements
- Management of housing requirements and adaptations
- Developing life skills for the injured individual and their family unit
• Sourcing Support Workers for 24 hour care packages, and delivering brain injury education to these teams
