When my husband, Peter, and I moved to Kenmure in May 2012, we were renters. I wasn’t sure I wanted to leave Houston and start over again where we didn’t know anyone. One of the first people to welcome us was Harriet Garrison, the KNN Membership Chair. She explained the concept of KNN and how easy it would be to meet our neighbors while enjoying a variety of activities. We joined right away! Not long after becoming members of KNN, we were taken to lunch at the club by Harmon and Mona Trogdon, part of KNN’s Member to Member Program. They answered our many questions about Hendersonville and the area. By this time we had already met many wonderful people and were feeling pretty comfortable with our decision to settle in Kenmure. We sold our home in Houston and bought a home on Greenleaf Drive. It wasn’t long after we bought our new home that we were welcomed to our new neighborhood by Marian Hansen, who was our Neighborhood Representative. Thanks to Marian, we met many of our neighbors and really felt at home. In April 2013, we became full time residents. You can see where I’m going with this . . . Kenmure Newcomers & Neighbors made our transition to retirement and a new community a joyful experience. As this year’s KNN President, along with our capable Board, I hope to help many new KNN members ease into their new life at Kenmure and Berwick Downs. Our 2015 Board of Directors consists of five new members and four returning members. I’m thrilled that Jeanne Sudderth (Database Chair), Cynthia Vick (Treasurer) and Elaine Hessong (Activities Chair) have signed on for another year. We’re also pleased to have these new board members: CC Blackburn (VP), Marian Hansen (Membership Chair), Louise Wiley (Secretary), Sid Alexander (Programs), and Aggie Alexander (Communications). We all look forward to helping you become involved in the many wonderful activities KNN has to offer. We all owe a big “Thank You” to the following outgoing board members for their hard work and dedication - Jane Holland, Margie Scott, Sue Gordon, Joe Pucilowski, and Susan Kasper. Thank you all so much! And to Betty Brown, our outgoing President – thank you so much for bringing me on board and showing me the ropes. KNN couldn’t run without the members who volunteer their time and efforts to this fabulous organization. Thank you to our Neighborhood Representatives, Activity Leaders, Member-to-Member Committee, Decorating Committee, and the Database Management Team. We are grateful for all they do. We’re always looking to add to our volunteer base, so please think about giving some time to KNN. On Friday, March 27, we’ll host our first dinner of 2015. You’ll find all the information in this newsletter. Please join us for what promises to be a very enjoyable evening.
