“If you read Conscientious
regularly, I am sure you are
familiar with Foam Magazine,
which is easily one of the best
- if not the best - magazine
dedicated to contemporary
photography.”
Jörg Colberg, Founder and Editor of the Conscientious blog

“Foam Magazine is one of the

internationally, with good quality

Founded in 2001, Foam Magazine has always
presented photography in the best possible
manner. Attention is given to all facets of
photography: from documentary to fashion,
contemporary to historical, and from worldrenowned photographers to emerging talent,
which is celebrated in the annual Talent Issue.
Because we believe that Foam Magazine
publications must continue to surprise – both
in form and in content – the magazine has
undergone a thorough redesign in 2014.
Naturally, the quality remains the same,
including the carefully considered use of
various kinds of paper, the high-grade
graphic design, the substantial texts by
photography experts and the always
surprising idiosyncratic editorial choices.
“The new Foam Magazine is so
good it will make you cry. Fact.”
– Self Publish Be Happy on Twitter, May 2014
More book than magazine
The structure of the redesigned magazine is
no longer fixed, and makes Foam Magazine
feel more like a book than a magazine. It has
become timeless. The new structure enables
each issue to do better justice than ever to
current artistic practice, and to focus its atten
tion more effectively on the work presented.
Foam Magazine is published three times a
year. The annual Talent Issue, appearing
every fall, focuses on emerging photography
talent and the developments in the contemporary world of photography.

Focus on Talent
Foam Magazine dedicates its Talent Issue to
publishing the work of young photography
talents. The Talent Call that precedes the
selection process attracts submissions from
all around the world and is known to be
one of the photography industry’s most prestigious contests, in terms of career building
and international appraisal. Publication in
the Talent Issue is a stepping stone for young
photographers into the international photo
graphy industry.
“My career as a photographer has changed
dramatically before and after the Foam Talent
Call. I started to receive a large number of
inquiries from galleries, press and individuals
abroad. All the exposure and responses that
I get thanks to Foam encourages me and
gives me motivation to create more work.”
– Yoshinori Mizutani, Foam Magazine Talent 2014

talent
The Talent Issue is launched at Unseen, the
international photography fair and festival in
Amsterdam. Talents participate in a roundtable discussion, meet industry professionals
and gallery owners, and present their work
in an outdoor exhibition.
The Foam Talent Issue is exhibited interna
tionally. In 2014 the Foam Magazine Talent
exhibition travelled to Amsterdam, Paris and
Dubai. The exhibitions are accompanied by
symposiums, events and masterclasses, attracting both professionals from the field of
photography and photography enthusiasts.
