Introduction: Oralee Stokes opened the meeting. Members introduced themselves.
Order of Business:
 New Crisis Center
 Brenda discussed the first board meeting of the Cochise Family Advocacy Center. There
are 7 board members and the Advocacy Center received its first $40 via the web site
GOFundMe.
 Mike Rutherford stated they are waiting for the architect. Mike has one idea in mind
and the architect wants to do it differently. Waiting for the Articles of Corporation to be
approved by the State so the 501(c) (3) can go forward.
 Lori discussed basic forensic training for staff and volunteers.
 Discussion regarding coordinating the different county meetings so burnout doesn’t occur
– specifically adding a new Multi-Disciplinary Team in the near future.
 Training
 Lt. Hiser discussed police interview procedures for crimes against children
 Group members discussed training of volunteers
 MSG Derrick brought up how many advocates are available with just a phone call. They
are trained and would welcome assisting the community. She also talked about a
suicide training that could be available.
 Lt. Hiser discussed the video he’s working on with the high school. Lt Hiser discussed the
video reaching teens also.
 The group discussed having the DV 101 Training provided again soon – it would provide
8 hours of continuing education and was a success last year. To be further discussed.
 Cochise County Protocol Development
 Discussion about the deadline of October for completing at least a working draft. It was
determined our protocols need to be inclusive of all victims – children, adults, elderly.
 A work group of members will meet on Wednesday, April 22nd at 9:00 AM at the Forgach
House to pound out a first draft of the protocols. Brenda Parker, Lori Rutherford, Lauri
Owen, Oralee Stokes, Kimberlee Jones, Lt. Hiser and Donna Zborill.
Open Floor: General discussion around various victim topics, drug use in the county and
member’s experiences.
