Port Supply Chain Workshop a great success
Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) Media Release Port Supply Chain Awareness a success Container Transport Alliance Australia (CTAA) sold out its inaugural Port Supply Chain Awareness Workshop in Melbourne on Thursday, 23 April 2015. 20 industry participants enjoyed a day visiting key container transport logistics facilities, learning more about the important contractual and operational relationships involved, discussing best-practice import and export supply chains, and debating improved exchange of electronic communications. Participants came from major importers and exporters, including Coles, Mars and Ridley Agriproducts, from transport companies such as Rocke, Arrow and Chalmers, and from interstate organisations. This broadened the level of engagement between the attendees. Wendy Williams, recently appointed Sales and Marketing Manager at Chalmers Industries said ‘As an induction workshop it was great, really worth attending. The interactivity between Gerard and Neil and the group made it was easy to understand the concepts. The tour allowed us to put the theory into a very visual and practical understanding’. Conrad DSilva, Export Coordinator at Ridley Agri-products said ‘the tour, involving a visit to an Empty Container Park, Transport Yard and Terminal was fantastic and the workshop very informative and thought provoking’. In commenting on the tour, Neil Chambers, Director, CTAA, thanked Melbourne Reefer Services (Maersk empty container park). Arrow Transport & Logistics and Patrick East Swanson Terminal for hosting the port facility visits. CTAA will be hosting similar training events in Melbourne, Brisbane, Fremantle and Sydney in the future.
