I am so proud of all we have accomplished for the last 85 years. Most importantly, I am very appreciative that we will celebrate this year in San Francisco, the birthplace of our organization. Now, the time has come again to convene as an AHEPA Family to conduct business with our individual Orders in a productive manner at the District Conventions and the 93rd Supreme Convention in San Francisco. As we work together, I am confident that we can accomplish the objectives set forth and work towards our goals as we deliberate. I know that if we all put forth our best effort and work as a team, we can attain success. I wish all of us successful conventions and trust that we will work together for the “Good of the Order. As the year comes to an end, I want to express thanks to all the sisters for the joining me on this Incredible Voyage as Grand President, I will cherish the memories always. Grand President's Travels The Daughters of Penelope concluded the 87th annual overseas excursion to Greece, Cyprus, and the Ecumenical Patriarchate, May 6 to 16, 2015. Supreme President Phillip T. Frangos, Daughters of Penelope Grand President Anna-Helene Grossomanides, and Maids of Athena Grand President Deanna Socaris led the delegation. On the donate page, you can choose to have your donation go towards the following: 1) Supreme Convention Patron (Listed on Sponsor Page in Supreme Convention Yearbook) 2) DOP Patron (Listed on Sponsor Page in Penelope's Scroll Magazine) 3) DOP Charitable Fund (towards National Obligation Projects) 4) Grand President's National Project (towards Saint Nicholas National Shrine at Ground Zero in NYC) The delegation participated at Hellas District 25's Convention in Komotini, May 8 and 9 where the Daughters of Penelope held a Conference for its Northern Greece Chapters. Sisters from Komotini, Thessaloniki, Alexandroupoli, Xanthe and Germany participated in the Conference. 2 The delegation also visited the AHEPA Hospital in Thessalonki to meet with hospital administration officials on May 10. Earlier in the day, Grand President AnnaHelene Grossomanides, MOA GP Deanna Socaris, and DOP Executive Director participated in Sail for Pink along with the Elpides Chapter of Thessaloniki. DOP Grand President Anna-Helene also met with Sisters from the Serres Chapter after the event. In Cyprus, Ambassador President of and Foreign Kasoulides. meetings were held May 11 with: U.S. to the Republic of Cyprus John Koenig, the Republic of Cyprus Nicos Anastasiades, Minister of the Republic of Cyprus Ioannis 3 The Leadership Mission concluded in Athens, May 13 to 16, and included meetings with Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos, President of Hellenic Parliament Zoe Konstantopoulou, Foreign Minister of the Hellenic Republic Nikos Kotzias, and Alternate Minister of Tourism Elena Kountoura. The next day, the delegation met with Deputy Chief of Mission (DCM) Suzanne Lawrence from the U.S. Embassy in Athens. At the embassy, the delegation took a moment to visit the George C. Marshall Statue, which was donated by AHEPA through the AHEPA Centennial Foundation, in October 2000. 4 5 6 7 While in Athens, the Daughters of Penelope held a Conference for its Chapters located in Athens. Grand President Anna-Helene was also pleased to be able to present checks (composed of donations made by our chapters) to our three national projects in Greece: 8 Melissa's Orphanage, Penelopean Day Care Center and WIN Hellas. 9 It was a very successful and rewarding trip. It was so wonderful to learn of the many projects and great work the Sisters are able to accomplish in Greece together!
