This educational activity is jointly provided by Bayhealth Medical
Center, the Medical Society of Delaware, the Delaware Trauma
Consortium, and the American Trauma Society, DE Division
Target Audience
Physicians, nurses and other allied health care professionals who are
responsible for the provision of trauma care.
Only registered attendees will be permitted in the conference area.
Registration
The cost to register is $85 for all attendees. Please include payment with
your completed registration card. Registration deadline: Friday, April 15,
2015.

A block of rooms have been reserved at the The Westin Wilmington, 818
Shipyard Drive, Wilmington, DE 19801, for a discounted rate of $179 plus

Meals
Continental breakfast, luncheon buffet and afternoon refreshments will
be provided.

Physicians
This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the
accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for
Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership
of the Medical Society of Delaware and the Delaware Trauma Consortium. The Medical Society of Delaware is accredited by the ACCME to
provide continuing medical education for physicians.
The Medical Society of Delaware designates this live activity for a maximum
of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the
credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
It is the policy of the Medical Society of Delaware to comply with the

Objectives
This one-day educational offering is designed to provide current information
regarding issues and trends related to the management of trauma patients and
assist in closing gaps in variations of care within our inclusive state trauma
system. At the conclusion of the conference, participants will be able to:

Recognize key findings in obtaining an injury history or conducting a pediatric
orthopedic physical.
Recognize the importance of prehospital treatment of extracavitary hemorrhage
Illustrate the impact of a collaborating State Trauma System on patient care.
Illustrate treatment protocols and system operations through case reviews evaluating
patient care, trauma decision making and destination selection.
Describe ABA (American Burn Association) criteria with appropriate transfer
procedures to a Burn Center.
Identify risk factors for screening of blunt carotid and vertebral injury in the setting
of trauma.
Recognize the Trauma Quality Improvement Program of the American College of
Surgeons’ Best Practices in Massive Transfusion Guidelines.
Describe the epidemiology of street drugs in the United States of America.
Recognize how fear from a traumatic event impacts the patient and family.

If you are unable to attend after you have registered, you must cancel
your registration before April 15, 2015 to receive a partial refund or
transfer your registration to another person. Cancellations prior to
April 15 are subject to a $35 administrative fee. Contact Marilyn

registration transfer. No refunds will be made after April 15, 2015
