In honor of National Trauma Awareness Month, the Antelope Valley Hospital (AVH) Trauma Injury Prevention Team is hosting “3D Trauma Prevention,” a free event focusing on driving dangers. It will be held Tuesday, May 26, from 4-6 p.m. at the Community Resource Center at 44151 15th Street West in Lancaster. Named “3D Prevention” for the top three contributing factors to automobile accidents and injuries: 1. Drugs/drinking 2. Distraction 3. Drowsiness The event will feature safety information, hands-on activities and a driving simulator along with guest speakers from the Jacob Hefter Foundation, California Highway Patrol (CHP) and the AVH pharmacy department. “As a trauma unit we see the devastating effects of car accidents, many of which could’ve been prevented,” said AVH Trauma Program Manager Cynthia Marin, RN, MSN, CCRN. “Through this program we are hoping to educate local residents about the most common contributors to car accidents and, hopefully, save lives.” For more information or to register for this free event, call 661-949-5677 or send an email to Ollvy.Kaufman@AVHospital.org.
