Call for Papers Technology and Innovation Society for Philosophy and Technology 19th Biennial Meeting July 2-6, 2015 International Academic Exchange Center of Northeastern University Shenyang, China We warmly invite participants to the 19th SPT Biennial Meeting, which will be hosted jointly by the Research Center for Philosophy of Science and Technology, Northeastern University, and the Chinese Society for Dialectics of Nature/Philosophy of Nature, Science and Technology, in Shenyang, China. It is hoped that participants will share their views of recent developments in relevant research fields concerned with technology. The theme for this meeting is “Technology and Innovation”. It responds to some remarkable and interesting outcomes in the philosophy of technology research. Innovation has been a big theme in public discussions, and more and more scholars are investigating the relationship between innovation and science, technology, etc., and thinking about the co-production of science, technology, engineering and innovation from the perspective of philosophy. It is thus particularly worthy of discussion as a central theme in the SPT biennial meeting. The 19th meeting provides a forum to explore responses across the broad range of disciplinary perspectives found within science, technology, engineering and innovation studies. Papers are encouraged exploring diverse aspects of the theme from ontology, epistemology, methodology, axiology, and praxis. The usual themes on philosophy of technology such as Biology, Information, Nano, Cognition, Sustainability, etc. are also warmly welcomed. (Abstracts will be reviewed on a rolling basis and acceptance notifications will be given within a few weeks after submission: see below under ‘abstract submissions’.) March15 ,2015: Deadline of Abstract Submission ; March 30, 2015: Acceptance notification; Before April 1,2015: Early Registration ; April 1-May 1,2015: Regular registration; After May 1, 2015: Late registration open June 15, 2015: Final program posted Meeting Dates: July 2-6, 2015. July 2: registration and check-in time; July 3-5: meeting times; July 6: social visiting (optional and free; offered by the organizers). Registration: The registration ends on March 15, 2015 at 24.00 p.m. Please access to meeting website and register. Please clearly indicate your identity (SPT membership, students, ordinary participants, etc.) when registering. We encourage early registration and abstract submission. Preferential registration discounts will be offered depending on your identity and registration date. In addition, after your registration an Invitation Letter will be immediately sent for possible use in a visa application. Abstract submissions: An abstract of no more than 400 words (as a .doc file) should be submitted in the meeting website by March 15, 2015. The abstract should describe the subject matter in sufficient detail for referees (academic committee members) to make an informed decision. Reviewed results will be notified through e-mail within half a month, that is, by March 30, 2015. In addition, more importantly, for those who will apply for travel expense from your university or organization, or for those who have another travel alternatives in 2015, earlier information can be provided concerning the acceptance or rejection of your abstract. So when you register on the meeting website, please do send your abstract at the same time to vice professor Ma Huiduan, the Secretary of the meeting, or Dr. Chen Jia, the vice Secretary of the meeting (our shared meeting email address:spt2015@sina.com) with subject “2015 SPT Meeting”. Then we will inform you the reviewed results as soon as possible. Other questions and important information may also be submitted to the meeting email address. Full paper submissions: You need submit abstracts only, but full paper submissions are also welcome. The optional full paper submission ends on May 15, 2015. Accommodation: A more detailed list of accommodation close to the venue and relevant rates will be supplied to registrants upon registration or soon thereafter.
