BINDURA UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE EDUCATION FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES A RESEARCH PROJECT ON AID IN POST CONFLICT RECONSTRUCTION IN NYANGA DISTRICT IN 2009-2011 BY BLESSING NGOHWE B1025102 SUPERVISOR: MR DODO SUBMITTED IN PARTIAL FULLFILMENT OF A BACHELOR OF SCIENCE HONOURS IN PEACE AND GOVERNANCE WITH BINDURA UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE EDUCATION ABSTRACT Post conflict reconstruction aid has become multidimensional in recent years, it has gone beyond merely supporting the rebuilding of infrastructure and in many cases now includes humanitarian relief , institution rebuilding, technical assistance, the development of democracy support to local NGO’s and civil society, budgetary support and debt relief. Zimbabwe being no exception, countries emerging from conflict today are not only physically devastated but are also politically and economically weak thus making the social fabric of these societies fractured. Post conflict reconstruction does not solely refer to the reconstruction of actual physical infrastructure, it also includes all plans to rebuild a society politically, socially, economically and attempts to address the root causes and immediate effects of the conflict.
