New Members for Parish Council NEEDED!
In a few short weeks, the parish is going to hold nominations for additional membership on the Parish Pastoral Council. The
Council is a visioning and planning body of parishioners who foster full participation of the entire parish in the life and mission of the church as lived out in Divine Mercy Parish.
In consultation with the Pastor, the Parish Pastoral Council actively listens to and identifies the needs and concerns of the people and reviews the parish pastoral plan to respond to these needs.
The Council also seeks to implement the plan by seeking the involvement of parishioners. We are now in the process of formation with the members of the Coordinating Teams for the Ministries of Community and Service.
We are in need of five parishioners who have these qualities:
· desire for spiritual growth in themselves and the Parish
· enthusiasm about the future direction of the Parish
· willingness to listen, to speak honestly and to work toward consensus
· ability to inspire and empower others
· flexibility and openness with people and ideas
We ask that you prayerfully think of and nominate persons that you know who may possess the qualities above. Thank you!

From the Desk of Bill Drazdowski:
Carpooling to and from Church on the weekends:
A new program we are initiating at Divine Mercy is to promote carpooling amongst our Parishioners to get people, who otherwise would not be able to attend our church because of lack of
transportation, to and from our facility on weekends and for special masses. The Service Coordinating team and I will be in charge of this endeavor and hope it can be an ongoing service to
our Parishioners for years to come. Please contact me at the Parish Office if you are in need of
transportation on a regular basis or if you are willing to transport Parishioners to and from our
services. It is our goal to identify reliable Parishioners in each section of our community to pick
up one or two others who are without transportation. We understand that many people have
special needs that make it difficult for them to be transported without the assistance of trained
professionals, and we will do our best to find ways to find safe accommodations for you as
well.

Congratulations to Sophia Grace Kester who will be baptized this weekend at Divine Mercy.
Sophia Grace is the daughter of Ryan and Ashley Johnson Kester. She was born on December
21, 2014. May the Lord bless Sophia Grace and her family on this most special occasion!
Christians around the world are united in a special way during Lent, Holy Week and Easter.
Our hearts, mind and prayers are also especially aware of the Holy Land. Our Parish of Divine
Mercy is asked each year on Good Friday to support Christians in the Holy Land. Many Christians in the Holy Land depend on this collection for their lives. As a pontifical collection requested by Pope Francis, the annual Good Friday Collection offers a direct link for parishioners to be witnesses of peace and to help support the Holy Places. When you donate on Good
Friday, you are supporting Christians in the Holy Land. Franciscans and others in the Holy
Land are housing and feeding the poor, providing religious formation and education, maintaining shrines and parishes, and conducting pastoral ministry. For more information, visit myfranciscan.org/good-Friday. Please be generous as your abundance allows.
You have an opportunity to receive the sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession) on Monday
of this week between the hours of 5:30 and 7:00PM and on Saturday, April 4 from 9:30 to
10:30AM. Keep in mind that the Mass on Holy Saturday begins at 8:00PM and on Easter Sunday the Mass schedule is 8:00AM, 9:30AM and 11:00AM. There will be no 5:00PM Mass or
Evening Prayer at 6:00PM on Easter Sunday. Have a great week!

Pope Francis’ Visit
Pope Francis will be visiting Philadelphia this Fall and will be celebrating a Papal Mass on September 27th. The Mass is
scheduled to be held on the steps of the Art Museum with people gathering down Ben Franklin Ave. There are no reserved seating, so people are encouraged to bring their own lounge chair or prepare to stand. The Diocese is taking preliminary reservations and details will be announced after they finalize numbers. The cost for transportation is $40.00 per
person, with the cost of food the responsibility of each individual. If we can guarantee 56 passengers, we can have our
own parish bus. The Diocese is now taking numbers to decide how many busses. If you would like to attend this very
special Papal Mass with Pope Francis and be part of the Diocese of Scranton Pilgrimage, please call the parish office
with your name, phone number and e-mail address no later than April 10th. If you have any questions, please contact the
Parish Office at 570-344-1724.
