The knowledge and skills learnt in college have allowed me to excel within the carpentry and joinery trade. The course is well rounded and you learn all 01 Edinburgh College aspects of carpentry and joinery from on-site work to bench work. The lecturers have a good understanding and knowledge of the course, they helped me achieve my goal to become a great joiner. Since attending this course at college, I have been privileged enough to be invited to enter competitions on behalf of the college. This has helped me with time management and troubleshooting, not to mention gaining new skills. I am very happy with this course and I would like to thank the lecturers and support staff at Edinburgh College for assisting me in becoming a fully qualified joiner.” Carpentry and Joinery, Painting and Decorating 02 CARPENTRY AND JOINERY, PAINTING AND DECORATING RYAN CAW // EXCELLENCE AWARD Excellence Award in Carpentry, Joinery, Painting and Decorating in the FE Awards 2014 “The time I spent at Edinburgh College was very enjoyable and beneficial and played a huge role in the development of the skills and knowledge needed within my trade. I completed my first two years studying the Carpentry and Joinery course and then went on to do a further year of study on the Advanced Craft Course offered at Edinburgh College. This is where I took great pride in being awarded the Excellence Award in Carpentry and Joinery at the FE Awards 2014. This was a great achievement for me and is not only something I am immensely proud of but something that I think really signifies all the hard work that I put into the course. 03 Edinburgh College In the Advanced Craft course I was also given the opportunity of representing the college in the Worshipful Company of Joiners and Ceilers award in London, a competition against other apprentices of the same skill set. This experience was second to none and I was deeply honoured to be chosen to take part on behalf of Edinburgh College. It was also a great place to test my skills and see how I placed against others. Throughout my studies I have learned many skills and worked on a variety of projects, but I feel I owe my success to the professional training and guidance from the many lecturers and staff I have been lucky enough to have worked with over my time at college”.
