Everglades Connections 100 th Anniversary of the Tamiami Trail Join us as we celebrate the Everglades and The Kampong connections with art, workshops and a lecture <This 1930 photograph in the David Fairchild Museum at The Kampong shows the inspection party that would explore The Everglades, four years before part of it would become the first national park established to protect an imperiled flora and fauna. May 4–June 13: “Tamiami Trail: In the Beginning,” an exhibition of original works by members of the Miami-based Tropical Botanic Artists May 19: Beginning Botanical Illustration Workshop by Silvia Bota and Elsa Nadal May 21, 6:30pm: Lecture: “Expecting the Unexpected: Pandora’s Box of Paradox in an UpsideDown Estuary,” Evelyn Gaiser, Ph.D., FIU Department of Biology May 28, 6-8pm: Twilight Tour and Artist Reception. Watch the moon rise over Miami. Check out the art exhibit of Everglades flora and fauna. Experience The Kampong at twilight.
