Frederick County Public Schools is not a sponsor of this contest; however, student participation is encouraged to complement academic growth and endeavors. ENTRIES: All art submission must be a drawing, painting, or collage on poster board or canvas and should be no larger than 18” x 24”. All submissions must have an entry application form taped to the back of the art. Send or Deliver Art to : Town of Emmitsburg Attn: Lions Heritage Day Art Contest 300A South Seton Avenue Emmitsburg MD 21727 DEADLINE: 1pm, Friday, June 19th, 2015 JUDGING: Art will be displayed, judged and prizes awarded at the Emmitsburg Community Heritage Day festival, on Saturday, June 27, 2015. ELIGIBILITY: Contest is open to school age children in the following age/grade groups: Division 1: 1st—4th Grade ( age 6—9) Division 2: 5th—8th Grade (age 10—13) Division 3: 9th—12th Grade (ages 14—18) ELIGIBILITY : The contest is open to all Frederick County school aged children ranging in age 6 through 18 (Homeschoolers encouraged to participate as well). Age groups are divided into divisions as follows: (Division 1) 1st—4th graders ; (Division 2) 5th –8th graders; (Division 3) 9th—12th graders. * Frederick the original work returned to them, they need to make special arrangements for picking up the art work by contacting Jennifer Joy at 301-447-6467 by no later than 2 weeks following the event. Artwork will not be returned after July 25th. County Public Schools is not a sponsor of this contest; however, student participation is encouraged to complement academic growth and endeavors. DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES: All completed entries must be postmarked or received by Friday, June 19, 2015 and must be accompanied by an attached and completed entry form. Entry forms will not be accepted by email. THEME; All artwork should reflect the theme ”The Heart of The Civil War in Emmitsburg”. Interpretation of this theme is left to the individual but must include some aspect of Emmitsburg’s role in the Civil War. Research into this town’s history is encouraged, particularly the human interest aspect of the war. ARTWORK: Acceptable media are paint (water colors, acrylic, or oil); colored pencil, ink, markers or chalk or pastels. (Please do not submit sculptures as they are not acceptable for this contest). Artwork should be on poster board or canvas and should not be no larger than 18” X 24”. Please do not sign the front of the artwork (but you may sign the back). It is important that the art remain anonymous until judging is complete. ENTRY FORM: Entry forms must be completed and signed by the student’s legal guardian. Please attach the entry form with tape or fixative (if using glue, be careful to use one that will not run through and damage the artwork) to the back of the artwork. Please do not use staples which may damage the artwork. Only one entry per child. MAILING/DELIVERY: Entries must be mailed or delivered flat or rolled in a tube—No folding please! If mailing send your submission to : Town of Emmitsburg, Attn: Lions Heritage Day Art Contest, 300A South Seton, Emmitsburg MD 21727. For delivery use the same address as above and drop off on the 2nd floor of the building. RIGHTS TO ARTWORK: Submissions become the property of the Emmitsburg Lions Club. Through submission of artwork, contestants and their legal guardians grant non-exclusive reproduction and publication rights to the works submitted. If the contestant wishes JUDGING: Entries will be judged on the morning of Saturday, June 27, and be on display in the Gym on the 1st floor of the Town Office Building. Art will be judged by a panel of judges made up of artists, teachers and local historians. Winners will be selected based on their artistic talent and ability to demonstrate the theme. Creativity, historical representation (showing research) and artistic expression will also be considered. Winners will be awarded prizes at the Memorial Ceremony at 7:00pm at the Community Band Stand. If unable to attend this event the winner will be mailed their prize within 2 weeks after the event. PRIZES: 1st, 2nd, 3rd place prizes will be awarded in each division. “Honorable Mention” ribbons will be given to fourth place winners.
