FRIENDS OF LAKE WISSOTA STATE PARK
MEETING AND ACTIVITY CALENDAR, 2015-16
April 14, Tuesday, 7 pm: Meeting, Karen Lea Nature Center, LWSP. Open house and summer
programs will be discussed.
May 5 (check with park staff): Volunteer Work Day(s). Pull garlic mustard
at LWSP. Call the park 715-382-4574 or check the website to confirm
when the plant is present for pulling.
May 12, Tuesday, 6 pm: Wildflower Hike led by Rod Gont at Jim Falls
Wildflower Area. Burgers and business meeting after hike at Al and Marg
Middendorps'. Bring items to complete menu.
June 7, Sunday, all day: State Park Open House Day. Free admission/fishing
both Saturday and Sunday, June 6 and 7. Friends activities on Sunday, 1-4 pm,
including t shirt printing, bluebird house building, and Scheel's kayak and paddle
board demonstration. Potluck breakfast at Chuck Card's campsite, beginning at
8:30 am on Sunday.
July 14, Tuesday, 3 to 4 pm arrival time: Kayak
at Pulaski Lake. Grilled chicken sandwiches
provided after at Gerry and Nicki's cabin. Bring
a dish to pass. If you need a kayak, call the park
office at 715-382-4574 to reserve one.
August 11, Tuesday, 6 pm: Prairie hike led by Rod Gont. Meeting at
Karen Lea Nature Center after hike.
September 8, Tuesday, 6 pm: Annual Meeting at Karen Lea Nature
Center. Potluck (burgers and brats provided by FLWSP) followed by
election of board members and officers. Bring a dish to share.
October 3, Saturday, 9-11 am: Ice Age Center Hike, Chippewa
Moraine, arrive between 9 and 11 am to take advantage of shuttles to
trailhead.
November 10, Tuesday, 7 pm: Meeting, Karen Lea Nature Center.
Candlelight ski, hike, snowshoe planning.
January 16, 2016, 1 pm. Chili and soup lunch will be provided by our
hosts, Allen and Marg Middendorp, at 1 pm. Bring something to
round out the menu. There will be a business meeting and
finalization of plans for the candlelight ski after lunch. Ski, hike or
snowshoe after the meeting, weather permitting.
February 20, 2016, Saturday, 5-8 pm: Candlelight Ski, LWSP. Full
moon is the 22nd-it should be great. Think snow (at least for the
success of this event)!
March 8, 2016, Tuesday, 7 pm: Annual Planning Meeting, Bill and Jan
Krolls' home.
