Barr - Advanced Manufacturing Max Jennett - Precision Machine Technology Katelyn Kiemeyer - Health Science II/Pre-Pharmacy TALENT SHOW CALL OUT Student council would like to announce that we will be holding talent show auditions Tuesday 4/7 - Friday 4/10, as well as Tuesday April 13 and April 14 from 3:15 to 4:00 pm after school in room E236. Sign-ups for audition slots will be outside E236 on Monday April 6th. The talent show is on Friday May 8th at 7:00 pm. Tickets will go on sale the week of the show (May 4th - May 8th). Seniors who were nominated for senior polls will receive a special invitation and a discounted ticket price. If you can sing, dance, play an instrument, juggle, tell jokes, or just love performing on stage come show off your talent as we close out another great year! WE ARE ALSO HOLDING AUDITIONS FOR EMCEES FOR THE EVENT. GRADUATION TICKETS All graduating students whom are in good standing are given 5 graduation tickets. If your family would require additional tickets, you may request up to an additional 5 tickets. Requests must be made by May 1st. Ticket request forms are available at the main office. Tickets will not be issued until after graduation practice. Graduates must attend practice to receive tickets. Additional festival seating will be provided in the Performing Arts Center. A live feed of graduation will be shown on the large screen. Tickets are not necessary for Performing Arts seating. 4TH ANNUAL WALK A MILE IN MY SHOES 5K April 25, 2015 Kic It will hold its 4th Annual Walk A Mile In My Shoes 5K family walk/run to support homeless youths in Johnson County at FCHS. To register please visit www.kic-it.org CUB PANTRY The Cub Pantry is a choice food pantry serving Franklin Community School students and their families who attend FCMS and FCHS. The Cub Pantry is located at FCMS is open the first Thursday of every month November through May from 4pm-6pm. Please enter through door 24S located at the side of the building and the pantry is located in room B128. The Cub Pantry will be open on the following Thursday's for the remainder of the year: April 9 and May 7th. Second semester freshman with a GPA of 2.5 or above have met the initial requirement for applying to the FCHS Early College Program and were sent an email with an attached brochure. Franklin Community Early College is an initiative in joint partnership with Ivy Tech Community College. The purpose of the program is to enable first generation college students to get a head start on college credits while they are in high school and to develop college readiness skills and habits for success. Students apply to Early College at the end of their freshman year. In addition to earning a high school diploma, students are provided with the opportunity to earn 30+ hours worth of college credit leading to a certificate in general studies from Ivy Tech. If your student would like to apply to the Early College program he/she must submit this application by April 24th. PROM INFORMATION Prom will be held on May 1st from 7 - 11 PM at The Crane Bay. This years’ theme is “Black Tie Affair”. Please note some very important information regarding prom below. The Crane Bay - 551 W Merrill St, Indianapolis, IN 46225 Dinner - pasta, chicken, bread, salad, dessert, and drinks included. Ticket prices $70 each. Ticket sale dates April 9 and 13 after school in room D209 & April 8th from 7:15 - 7:45 in the morning downstairs common area. TICKETS WILL NOT BE SOLD ANY OTHER TIME. You must have your guest form (if bringing any non FCHS student) completed along with administrator’s signature at the time of ticket purchase. These forms have been shared with you and can also be found outside room D209. Checks can be made payable to FCHS. All ticket sales are non-refundable and non-transferable. The sooner you are able to purchase your ticket the shorter the line typically is. If you wait until the last day be prepared to wait in a long line. You are only allowed one guest. Guests can be freshmen - age 20. Be prepared to show your ID at prom along with your guest (this can be a school ID). Free parking will be included at The Crane Bay. High School Color Guard Clinic and Audition Schedule Auditions: Wednesday April 22. 6:00 - 8:00 Make sure you sign up for auditions. Those who can't make April 22 can reschedule by signing up for Tuesday April 21. 6:00 - 8:00. (Talk to Stacy Cummings if both conflict.) If a student can only attend a Tuesday each week or a Wednesday that is completely fine. The clinics are just to help prepare the students for their auditions on April 22 (which they may reschedule for the 21st, if needed). Once practices begin in May, students will be given a schedule to work around, as all practices will be required. If you have any questions, you may contact Color Guard Director, Stacy Cummings, at cummingss@franklinschools.org IMMUNIZATION RECORDS Attention Juniors: If you have not had 2 meningitis shots, you will need to obtain the 2nd one before the start of the next school year. It is a state mandate that you obtain this immunization prior to the start of your Senior year and provide written proof of the immunization. DRIVERS EDUCATION If you are interested in starting driver education, contact Mr. Leonard (leonardt@franklinschools.org) or Mr. Clark (clarkd@franklinschools.org) for sign-up information. More information can also be found at www.road-skills.com. AFTER SCHOOL LIBRARY RESOURCE Library resource is available for quiet study with academic support. Resource time is held in the Media Center from 3-5pm Monday through Thursday. Students are only to park in the southwest lots (the 2 athletic lots, the former "senior" lot, and the commuter lot-behind the blue signs). If you are parking in a staff lot or any lots on the east side of the school near the auditorium, you are subject to discipline, loss of driving privileges and your vehicle may be towed. All student drivers must have a parking permit or be subject to the same disciplinary actions above. Parking Pass Applications are available in the Main Office and FCHS homepage. LUNCH MONEY: Please have students turn in their lunch money by 10:30am each day, so they will not have an extended wait. Thanks. ATTENDANCE: Please call the attendance line to report student absences, and early dismissals at 738-5708. **Please note that a driver’s license, state identity or passport will be required to confirm the identity of the adult picking up the student for early dismissal. This policy has been put in place to protect the safety of our student body. **When possible please allow at least an hour for early dismissal calls. Thank you. BOOK/MOVIE CLUB Dear Faculty, Staff and Students, In order to participate, you must have read the book/s and then taken a quiz over the book online at GoodReads. All students please check your school email accounts for class related announcements!! SENIOR GRADUATION SPEECH Hello Seniors! It is that time of year where we start getting ready for graduation. If anyone would like to audition to give a speech at graduation please let Mrs. Henderson or Mrs. Hart know. Auditions will be held on Wednesday May 6 after school at 3:15 in Mrs. Hart's room(E228). Speeches may be no longer than 3 minutes in length and be original. It is acceptable to use quotes but please give credit to the person. PSYCHOLOGY DAY AT FRANKLIN COLLEGE The Franklin College Psychology department is having a Psychology Day for current juniors and seniors thinking about that as a major and interested in learning more. Our Psych professors are really amazing so I think this event will be worthwhile. The day is Saturday, April 18th from 8:15 -10:45am on campus. Varsity scores were 25-13, 25-9, 25-13 with production leaders including Hunter Gross with 32 assists, Travis Nerding with 14 digs and Nik Welch with 3 blocks, 3 aces and 11 kills. Both team finish their three day road stretch tonight as they travel to The Volleyball Academy to play against Scecina Memorial. Game time is at 6pm. Good luck Cubs! DINE TO DONATE FOR TRACK The Franklin Chili's restaurant will be sponsoring two Dining to Donate nights for the boys and girls track teams on Wed. April 8 and Thurs. April 9. By presenting the attached flyer to your server on either of those evenings the teams will receive 15% of all sales. The boys’ team will be using the funds to offset costs for their awards banquet. If you can help us out on either of these evenings it would be greatly appreciated.
