participants to learn a variety of different art
mediums, create many diverse projects, and

Let’s G.O.! Nature Camps
That’s right, Get Outside and explore your natural surroundings! There’s bugs, flowers, birds, fish, plants,
and much more to explore! Each session introduces young explorers, entering grades 3-6, to the wonders of
the outdoor world, while building social skills and enjoying recreational fun. Each week incorporates group
games, nature crafts, outdoor exploration, and friendship building.

“How Does Our Garden Grow”
June 20 - June 24
Investigate the mystery of seeds and the magical way they become plants! (Also learn how to use them after
harvest.) Campers will work on numerous planting projects at the park as well as some to take and share.
Local and seasonal eating will be discussed and a few scrumptious dishes prepared. Yum!

“Follow that Trail”
June 27 - July 1
Get out and explore the great outdoors with us while we investigate different types of trail hiking! Campers
will learn how to read trail maps, and discover what it means to go letterboxing and orienteering . Bring
your compass and let’s get lost (or not!) in the wonder of our natural world!

“Weather, Seeds, & Plants”
July 25 - 29
Creepy Crawlers, water-warriors, animal critters… so many wild things out there to explore! During this
week campers will participate in a stream habitat study and wildlife hunt and will learn to become more
aware of your natural surroundings. “Outdoor explorers” will mark animal tracks and scat to identify what
animals or insects may have “left their mark.” By the end of the week we will be able to answer, “Whose scat
is that?”

Just Bead It!
(youth jewelry making)
This class, designed for youth 8-13 years of age, will teach various design ideas and concepts for jewelry
making while working with wire, cord, thread, floss and various metal and glass beads to create your
own treasures. Basic macramé and braiding techniques will also be introduced so that participants
may create their own cords on which to proudly display their wearable art! Make and take a new piece
home each day to show off what you’ve learned.

Skateboarding Clinics
Beginners, if you're interested in learning basic skills, improving existing abilities, or how to properly
use the skate park obstacles, join us for one of our skateboarding clinics!
Now through Memorial Day the park is open to use at your discretion. During the swimming season,
the park will be available during pool operational hours, at the daily pool rate, or free when you
purchase a season pool pass. Held at skate park located inside Municipal Pool.

Mountain Biking Clinics
Beginner Level
Children will learn different riding techniques while building skill and confidence! Lessons include
topics on proper riding and seating positions, proper braking, descending, balance, climbing and controlling the wheels. Children will practice techniques at the Chambersburg Pump Track and other
beginner–level trail and obstacle challenges. Classes meet at the Pump Track, located on Hood St.,

All Fired Up
This class, designed for the young artist, 9-13 years of age, will introduce the
beginning techniques of slab construction, glazing & firing. Students will create a clay shoe planter and other small projects using these introductory,

Summer Cheer Camp
We’ve got the spirit, how ‘bout you?! Youth, 612 years of age are invited to join us and keep
your spirits high as you practice & improve
your techniques of movements, stunts & dance
during our Summer Cheer Camp! Both beginner and veteran cheerleaders can benefit from
a fun break in the off - season. Week-long
preparations will culminate with a cheer demo
for friends and family! So, don’t let your spirits
fade between cheer seasons, and plan to join
Coach Trish and Kari Beth to brush up on your
cheer techniques!
Cheerleading not only builds coordination and
flexibility, but also boosts confidence and selfesteem through positive encouragement in a
healthy sports environment.

Students, 9-13 years of age, will immerse themselves in the medium of clay as
they continue to learn the hand-building techniques of ceramics. In this class
participants will create wind chimes and Milagros. Milagros are pendants
used in folklore from around the world. Usually made of various materials,
these will be constructed of clay and glass beads. Held at Rec. Center.

Run for Fun
Inviting all youth 9-13 years of age to participate in a FUN, fitness program
geared towards providing tips to begin forming life-long health, exercise and
nutrition habits. Sessions include basic introductions to distance running,
stretching and strengthening exercises, running form drills, fun fitness games,
relays, and nutrition advice. Program will conclude with a mini-cross country
race around the Memorial Park. Instructed by CASHS Cross Country and
Track Coach, Chris Monheim and other CASHS Track and Cross Country
team members.

Petite Chef de Cuisine
Youth 6-12 years of age who enjoy cooking will expand their palates as they
learn how to create a delicious French piquenique menu of French rice, orzo
or potato salads with seafood, tuna, and ham. Flat breads will be made in a
pan, to be eaten as a sandwich, with an omelet, or as a pizza with the salads.
Desserts of mango or chocolate mousse charlotte with lady fingers is sure to
be a tasty new dessert all will enjoy! Make room for your budding Chef de
Cuisine (head of the kitchen)!

All classes taught by certified Red Cross Instructors. All lessons are held at the Chambersburg
Municipal Pool, M-F, in 2-week increments. If necessary, you may divide your session and register

We offer parties during regular pool operational hours, or you may rent the pool for a private gathering.

Municipal Pool Information
2011 Pool Rates
The Chambersburg Municipal Pool is open Memorial Day - Labor Day. Season passes may be purchased at a 10%
discount through May 27th, at the Recreation Office. Fees include use of mini-golf, sand volleyball, basketball,
and skateboard areas.

Definition of “Family Pass” - A family membership includes up to a maximum of five (5) family members, residing at the same
address, and is limited to four (4) adults, age 18 and older. Each additional family member: $15/person
Grandparent Add-on - A grandparent may be added to a family, youth, or adult membership at half the price of a Sr. Citizen
membership.
Nanny Add-on - A nanny / babysitter (age 18 or older), may be added to a family, youth, or adult membership at half the price of an adult
membership.
When either a Grandparent or a Nanny attends the pool, he/she must show pass upon entry, and must be accompanied by a
member of the family holding pass ownership. If the individual is not accompanied by a family member, the daily rate will be charged.
Military Discount - Active military personnel and family members showing proper military ID are eligible to receive a season pass or the
daily rate at 50% off the regular price of admission.

Recreation Center Facility Rental Information
Did you know that the Eugene C. Clarke, Jr. Community Center (A.K.A. the "Recreation Center")
provides space for numerous indoor activities and includes small meeting rooms, two gymnasiums,
and a large banquet room? Reserve a room for a business or club meeting, social gathering, birthday,
wedding reception, or anniversary party. OR, reserve one of the gymnasiums for an athletic team
practice, recreational games, or youth activity. Call 261-3275 for more information.

Did you know that the Recreation Department sells
discounted amusement park tickets?
All tickets must be purchased with CASH during regular business hours,
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM. Tickets may be used any time during
the park's normal operating hours.
Ticket sales begin Monday, May 2nd and continue through Friday, September 2nd.

register for any of these programs.

Refund / Transfer Policies
Programs
We will offer refunds for any program, provided you contact us 7 days prior to the first class. (A $5.00 administrative fee will be retained by the
Recreation Department for each refund issued.) After this time refunds will not be issued except for medical emergencies.
Swimming Lessons
Transfers are honored two weeks prior to the start of each session and are assessed a fee of $5.00. Refunds are only granted for illness, injury, or
medical emergency, and families must provide a physician’s note.
Returned Checks
Any check returned for insufficient funds will be assessed an additional $25.
Register Early! Any program that doesn’t receive sufficient registration by it’s deadline may be canceled.
