Participation in our programs and leagues is at your

accident/liability insurance.
Scholarship Opportunities Available!

Looking for a place to let your kids expend some energy during these

Bring them to our free-play "open gym" to run, ride scooters, play

Teeny Boppers
This semi-structured class introduces wee-ones
through pre-school age (1.5 - under 3 years) to
basic gymnastics, gross motor skills, and
socialization activities in a fun, safe environment.
Active circle-time songs, games, ball and
parachute play are a few of the fun activities
children will enjoy. The program is designed as a
parent/tot class that requires direct participation
with your child. Classes held in Rec Center Gym.

Messy Munchkins
This art exploration program, for children 4-5 years of age,
provides a fun opportunity for participants to learn a variety of
different art mediums, create many diverse projects, and proudly
display their work at the session's end "art show!" Wear old

This exciting sport and games opportunity,
designed for children 3 years of age, introduces
the basics of soccer, basketball, and tee-ball

Youth Leagues and Clinics
Elementary Fall Soccer League
K-3rd Grade Basketball Clinic
Fall Soccer begins September 19th for all
K - 5th grade students attending school in
the Chambersburg area public and private
school system. Anyone interested in
participating
should contact his/her
elementary school directly.
Parents home-schooling their child(ren)
should contact the CASD public school that
their child would attend if he/she were
attending a public school. Games held
Saturdays at Memorial Park.
K-3rd graders are invited to join us for three
fun-filled days of basketball skill instruction.
Designed to better prepare children for their
participation in the winter leagues, the
program introduces the fundamental skills,
rules, and necessary terminology of the sport.
Classes held in Rec Center Gym.
Skateboarding Clinic
4th/5th Grade Basketball League
Geared to novice skaters, 5-10 years of age, this
clinic focuses on learning basic skills, improving
existing abilities, and proper use of skate park
obstacles. Classes held at the Memorial Park
Skate Park.
Requirements:
Skateboard, helmet, knee & elbow pads.
Similar to the fall soccer league, the 4th/5th Grade
Basketball League is also run in collaboration with the
elementary school PTO/PTA Associations. Please
contact your child’s school if he or she is interested in
participating in basketball through the winter months.

6th-9th Grade Volleyball League
This co-ed, recreational league provides
teenagers an opportunity to participate in
recreational soccer without having to travel
out of town. Everyone plays! Games are held
in 1-hour increments and participants should
expect to play at least half of each game.
Games held Saturday morning at Henninger
Field.
Youth in 6th through 9th grades are invited
to participate in this fun, co-ed league.
Each match lasts approximately 1 hour,
beginning at 6:00 PM. Participants will
receive one practice and play one game per
week. Held at the Rec Center.

Strictly Skills Basketball Clinic
Running for Fitness, Fun, & 5K!
Join Brian Zoeller, Chambersburg High School’s former
Assistant Basketball Coach, for 5-weeks of basketball
instruction! Each 60-minute session will provide innovative
and fundamental instruction of basketball skills, as well as
time to practice the skills in 3 v 3 formats. The instructor
will focus on player development through game specific
repetitions and teach how and why to develop specific
basketball skills. Class size will be kept small to ensure
individual attention and many repetitions. Held at the Rec.

Calling all girls, grades 6-12, who love to run or
would like to start running! Join certified NSCA
Personal Trainer, Samantha Stratton, for 5 weeks of
fun, games, and running! This class encourages
youth to become more physically active and helps
establish a lifelong appreciation of health and
fitness. By the end of 5 weeks, girls will be ready to
tackle a 5k (3.1 mile) race! Girls will be encouraged
to run 5k Run/Walk for the Boys & Girls Club - run in
honor of your hero! (You can dress up as a hero!)
Boys & Girls Club race is on Sunday, October 18th.
All fitness levels are welcome! Class will meet at
Memorial Park Bandshell.

Youth Special Events
3rd Annual Mother-Son Barbecue, BINGO and Bond!
Calling all mothers and their sons to spend an evening
playing indoor games such as kickball and dodgeball,
eating catered, picnic-style food, and trying their luck at
BINGO to win some great sports memorabilia, coupons,
and gift cards to area activities (bowling, rollerskating, etc).
A great way to spend some mother-son quality time in an
“all-in-good-fun,” competitive atmosphere!

Youth Indoor Soccer League
Games are played at the New Franklin Ruritan Center and/or the Rec Center. Individual or Team
registration is accepted in the divisions listed below. Those registering as a team are required
to wear their own team’s jersey or shirt. All teams will receive two, pre-season practices (one
hour in length), and play six games. Games and practices will be held in similar time frames
during the approximate time-frames listed below. 6th-8th grade and U13-U14 teams will also
participate in post-season play-off games. You will receive a phone call or e-mail indicating your
1st practice time.

K-3rd Grade Basketball League
This fun, recreational league will be sure to excite all young basketball enthusiasts! The season
incorporates skill instruction and games, and is held at the Winebrenner Seminary (formally
Scotland School for Veteran’s Children). Baskets are lowered to 8' and teams play 4 v 4.
Individual registration only. Participants receive four pre-season practices and play four games.
(Game days incorporate a 15-minute practice each week.)

Enjoy a few brews while you put your brushes to work at Good-Ta-Go! Paint a full work of art, guided each
step of the way by local artist, Amanda Stup. Each event will feature a different painting, which you will be
able to view prior to registration. No experience necessary - just a desire to have fun, relax and enjoy the
atmosphere at Good-Ta-Go! Known for offering their wide selection of microbrews, imports, and domestics,
Good-Ta-Go offers more than 250 brews, as well as over 30 rotating taps! Try their draft beers with flights of 4
or 6! Great snacks to pair with your brew too! Must be minimum of 21 years to participate.

Janice Bittner, a business owner and stay-at-home mom, has been teaching people how to use
essential oils to support health for years. With up-to-date research now available to the public,
anyone can learn how to safely and effectively use essential oils.

This low-impact aerobic program is sure to jump

Futsal is similar to Indoor Soccer, but more technical and controlled. Boundaries are court lines

Did you know that the Eugene C. Clarke, Jr. Community Center (A.K.A. the "Recreation Center")
provides space for numerous indoor activities and includes small meeting rooms, two gymnasiums,
and a large banquet room? Reserve a room for a business or club meeting, social gathering, birthday,
wedding reception, or anniversary party. OR, reserve one of the gymnasiums for an athletic team
practice, recreational games, or youth activity. Call 261-3275 for more information.

A 15-minute grace period is provided for groups to vacate
their space before being charged an additional fee.
(i.e. 76 minutes= 2 hour charge, 136 minutes= 3 hr charge.)

programs, EXCEPT leagues. You must obtain a separate form to register for these programs.

Refund / Transfer Policies
Programs
We will offer refunds for any program, provided you contact us 7 days prior to the first class. (A $5.00 administrative fee will be
retained by the Recreation Department for each refund issued.) After this time refunds will not be issued except for medical
emergencies.
Returned Checks
Any check returned for insufficient funds will be assessed an additional $25.
Register Early! Any program that doesn’t receive sufficient registration by it’s deadline may be canceled.
