Heather Janules Benediction The Rev. Dr. Carl Gregg *Recessional Hymn “Fire of Commitment” From the light of days remembered burns a beacon bright and clear. Guiding hands and hearts and spirits into faith set free from fear. When the fire of commitment sets our mind and soul ablaze. When our hunger and our passion meet to call us on our way. When we live with deep assurance of the flame that burns within. Then our promise finds fulfillment and our future can begin. From the stories of our living rings a song both brave and free. Calling pilgrims still to witness to the life of liberty. Chorus From the dreams of youthful vision comes a new, prophetic voice. Which demands a deeper justice built by our courageous choice. Chorus Postlude “Gonna Fly Now" — Bill Conti All are warmly invited to an hors d'oeuvre reception in the Atrium, Blanche Ames Art Gallery, and Rooms 113/115. (The butlered appetizers are all vegan and gluten-free.) If you came this way, Taking any route, starting from anywhere, At any time or at any season, It would always be the same: you would have to put off Sense and notion. You are not here to verify, Instruct yourself, or inform curiosity Or carry report. You are here to kneel Where prayer has been valid…. With the drawing of this Love and the voice of this Calling We shall not cease from exploration And the end of all our exploring Will be to arrive where we started And know the place for the first time…. At the source of the longest river The voice of the hidden waterfall And the children in the apple-tree Not known, because not looked for But heard, half-heard, in the stillness Between two waves of the sea. Quick now, here, now, always— A condition of complete simplicity (Costing not less than everything) And all shall be well and All manner of thing shall be well When the tongues of flames are in-folded Into the crowned knot of fire And the fire and the rose are one. —T.S. Eliot, “Little Gidding” Buddhist Chant verse 1 Sunday, March 29, 2015 at 4:00 p.m. A Service of Covenant and Installation Prelude Welcome “Passacaille” by G.F. Handel Nick Int Veldt Robert Ladner, President of the UUCF Board of Trustees *Processional Hymn “Rank by Rank, Again We Stand” The (*) indicates that you are invited to rise in body or spirit. Rank by rank again we stand / from the four winds gathered hither. Loud the hallowed walls demand / whence we come and how, and whither From their stillness breaking clear / echoes wake to warn or cheer; Higher truth from saint and seer / call to us assembled here. Ours the years’ memorial store / honored days and names we reckon Days of comrades gone before / lives that speak and deeds that reckon From the dreaming of the night / to the labors of the day Shines their everlasting light / guiding us upon our way Though the path be hard and long / still we strive in expectation; Join we now their ageless song / one with them in aspiration. One in name, in honor one / guard we well the crown they won; What they dreamed be ours to do / hope their hopes, and seal them true.
