Shirley Brooks, Clerk The UCC Education Committee's document is available after church as a hard copy on the tables in the narthex. It has been mailed to the e-mail membership directory and is available in the secure member only portion of our web-site. May God's will be done Members requesting an absentee ballot can request one at any time. These requests should be made to Lorene, church Secretary, Shirley Brooks, Clerk or any member of the Council. The eligibility of those who requested an absentee ballot will be determined and those members that qualify will receive a ballot. Deadline to return the ballots will be noon, Monday, June 8th. Voters can return their ballots to the church secretary, Lorene by June 8th. Once again let me emphasize the importance of everyone picking up a copy of our report and thoroughly reading it over. Today we have the joy of receiving our new members into the family of God here at the First Congregational Church. We welcome and recognize Barb Clark, Arnold & Betty Dougan, Gwen Hoffman, Jill Sondeen and V. Carol Stark. Please join us in Fellowship Hall following worship to welcome these new members and enjoy fellowship together over a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. Attention Choir - We will have rehearsal Wednesday, June 10 at 7:30 p.m., with Jack, and we are scheduled to sing in the worship service on Sunday, June 14, with rehearsal at 8:45 a.m. The Trustees are asking for volunteers to assist in a spring landscaping maintenance project on Saturday, June 13 at 9:00 a.m. We will be working to remove the existing woodchips allowing us to put a ground cloth down to prevent weed and grass growth. We will then replace the woodchips and add more as needed. Please let Roger Tuuk know if you are able to hlp by email (rtuuk@sbcglobal.net) or phone (924-6069). Thanks for your willingness to help and remember, many hands make light work Board of Trustees Book Circle - Our next get together will be Tuesday, June 16 at NOON (12:00) at the home of Bev Williams. If you need directions to Bev’s or a ride call Ann Werner (924-0192). Everyone is asked to bring a salad of any kind (greens, dessert kind, jello or any type. No table service is necessary. Please note the time (12:00 Noon). There will be no book review - just a social gathering. Volunteers are needed to setup/take down at the 8th Annual Chris Caris Memorial Fishing for Kids event, on June 23. The event is held at the east end of Fremont Lake Park. Setup begins around 6 a.m. and finished before the children arrive, at 8 a.m. Take down begins around 1:30 pm. And finished within an hour or so. Volunteers don’t have to remain on site between setup/take down. A large truck will be needed to pick up items stored at our church. The Sweets are unable to attend this year’s event (Setup/Take down Captains - Mike has a video/report of what needs to be done). Please contact Jeannie Caris cell 616-634-2654 or home 9245924. Thank You! We’re counting on you! Summer is just around the corner, and with it come holidays, weddings, and trips. Please consider purchasing SCRIP from the table in Fellowship Hall to use when buying wedding gifts, birthday presents for family and friends, gas and restaurant cards for use on trips or in town, etc. If you don’t know about our program, please stop by our table to learn about it. Sales have dropped off in 2015. Please help us to raise $2,500 so that we can pay our pledge to the church. Announcing “ConGo Enjoy-Meant” Events We are “ConGo” (Christians on the Go) and meant to go and enjoy good food and fun activities together! “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” Neh. 8:10 “Go and enjoy”: Tuesday, June 23- Campfire and Pool Party at the Nadeaus- Van and Judy's fire pit was made for big groups so let's make one as we gather for fun, fellowship and food (campfire treats)! If its hot out and you want to cool off the pool will be open. Time is 6:30-8:00pm. Saturday, July 11- Tailgate Party and Whitecaps Baseball GameCome to one or both! Tailgate Party starts at 4:00pm in the church parking lot and lawn. Hot dogs, brats, chips and water provided for a contribution. Bring your own softdrinks if you'd like. Please also bring a dish to pass. Congo Caravan will depart at 5:30 for the 7:00pm game. Rides provided for any who need one. Game ticket is $10.00. NEW!!! Thursday, August 6- Vaudeville Show and Bake Sale to Benefit Team Keegan!- 7:00pm at the Veterans Memorial Park Stage. More details TBA.
