Call library to order a copy of the book. 954-357-8090 X8180 Saturday, April 11 and Saturday, April 25- Try Your Hand at iPad! iOS 8 : In this course you will learn the basic tricks and techniques for using your iPad including: physical layout of buttons and features, navigating screens and apps, connecting to the Internet, overview of included apps, downloading apps from the Apple Store and the settings you need to know. Please bring your own iPad fully charged. Seating is limited. No Pre-Registration. Pick up a Seat Reservation Ticket at the Reference Desk prior to the start of class. 10:30am-12:30pm Saturday, April 11 - Reception for Photographer Lee Ann Birkenstock, photographer of "Artistic Cultures”, an exhibition of historic beauty currently on display in the Miramar Library. Ms. Birkenstock will share her personal story of the exotic places she has visited, customs she has experienced and stories of the "real people" behind the faces she came to know and capture on her photographic journeys across ancient parts of the world. "Artistic Cultures" is recognized as a Broward 100 event. Lite Refreshments will be served. 1:00pm-3:00pm Monday, April 13- "Meditation for Peace and Illumination". Cleanse your aura in this one hour meditation session. Registration is not necessary, but seating is first come, first served. 6:00pm-7:00pm Tuesday, April 14 - “Dog Smarts 101” Class- This pet education class will teach dog owners (or anyone thinking about getting a pet) important information about dog behavior and why dogs do the things they do. This is the perfect class for anyone experiencing behavioral problems with their dog, such as barking, chewing and housebreaking issues. The class is FREE to all residents. Since this is not a dog training session, no pets will be permitted to the program. 6:00pm-7:00pm Saturday, April 18- Friends of the Miramar Library Membership Meeting: Meeting to discuss library events and advocacy. Open to the Public. 11:00am-1:30pm Monday, April 20- Yoga : This is a Hatha “All Levels” class with breathing, balance, strength and stretching exercises followed by guided relaxation and meditation. Please bring water and a big towel if you do not have a yoga mat and bring any exercise straps or blocks if you have them. Samantha Hydes, the Healthy Eating and Green Mission Specialist at Whole Foods in Pembroke Pines will discuss the benefits of eating organic, locally grown food and how it not only promotes sound nutrition, but also benefits the planet. Ms. Hyde will present options for preparing healthy meals and samples will be provided. 6:30pm-7:30pm Thursday, April 23 “Writer’s Club”: The Friends of the Miramar Library hosts this Creative Writing Club. Share ideas and feedback with others, observe and get great critique of your writing. Have the opportunity to read aloud and share your writing experiences. You will get to try out some search strategies online with plenty of time to practice. Exploring Google Google is a leading search engine that helps you locate information on the Internet. In this course, you will learn about some of the other useful and fun features of Google, including news, maps and Google Earth, videos, calendars and more. Introduction to Email Learn about Internet email and create a free Gmail (Google) account. In this course you will learn how to send, receive and organize messages in Gmail, how to add friends and contacts to a contacts list, how to send and receive attachments and more.
